I know this is kind of a silly post, but I wanted to share my new Piggie with you guys!
The store said it was a girl, but it's a boy, so we have to keep him separate from Ava.
I let him and Ava hang out sometimes, but carefully supervise them.

Just a question, he's all black, and so are his claws. With Ava, hers are white, and when I cut them, I don't cut the pink.
How will I know where to cut on black claws?

My boy's claws are the same way and I have my mom do it (I'm way too nervous), but she always cuts just a little bit off. Just enough to stop it from curling. I would google it and ask a vet just be sure. Maybe have the vet do it the first time so you can see where and how to cut it.

Please don't let him play with your girl. They can breed in a blink of an eye. You'd sneeze and miss it.

You can shine a flash light under his nails to trim them.

We always have two people supervise them, but if you do day so. And thanks.

Please don't put your piggies together at all. Even when carefully supervised, mating can take three seconds. By the time you see the pig mounting and call him off, it's already too late.

You can shine a flashlight behind his black nails to see the quick.

ETA: @lissie got here first.

I have a pig with black nails too. The flashlight trick has never worked for me seeing the quick so I trim her nails once a week and just a tiny miniscule amount. Sometimes I will cut my other pigs nails first since they have "clear" nails and then cut the black nails the same amount. I haven't cut the quick so far since I don't take off much but I like to keep either quick stop or cornstarch nearby just in case.

I just cut the black nails off a little at a time. I keep them a little longer and clip them more.

I won't do that anymore. Thanks for the info.

I personally like the small animal clippers but a lot of people feel more comfortable with human nail clippers. Either way works!
