What I've learned from my guinea pigs is...

Delight in the everyday, ordinary things in life.

My pigs go crazy every night when they get the exact same hay and pellets they get every single day. They popcorn like crazy! If only we were all so excited about the ordinary, mundane things in our lives!

Have your pigs taught you any life lessons?

Family comes in all shapes, sizes and species.

I haven't had pets since I was a kid and now I'm going on 50 and I've only had my girls for under a year. I was not prepared for what they have come to mean to me. I think about their every need before my own. I spend most of my day wondering what they are doing. I'm excited to see them in the evening when I get home from work. It's a wonderful thing to give your heart away...even to fuzzy little poop machines.

To not underestimate the love and joy that even the smallest of animals can bring.

They have taught me to respect animals more than I ever used to.

Re: What I've learned from my guinea pigs is...

Ever since I was a child, I have owned multiple hamsters, and all of them have thrived for less than a year, and none of them have brought out the happiness in me, and instead left me feeling sad and guilty, like I hadn't taken care of them right or enough. However, last year on July 28th, I saw the light. I got Oreo, a female black and white Abyssinian, and she brought joy into my life. She taught me true happiness, and taught me how to have fun. Every morning I would wake up and see her adorable face, and her wheeking is just beyond cute. I love her to death!! Bless you Oreo and every guinea pig that brings love into our life!
