    Unhappy Dirty Bum Problems

Ok so let's be honest here. Im pretty sure we have a dealt with poopies so hopefully this won't gross you out too too much.

My 9 year old female guinea pig has been getting really matted fur on her behind, and her bum is always dirty. I have already given her a bum wash and there's no diarrhea. Its just really smelly. Her behind always seems to be wet, but her cage partner doesn't seem to be affected by it at all! Nobody will hold her except me, but i do it with a towel... I feel so bad for her. Is this simply because she is getting old, or is she sick? Please Help!

It sounds as though she's leaking urine, which causes her bottom to be damp. Is there any odor to the urine itself? If so, she may have a UTI, and antibiotics would clear it up.

But congratulations on getting her through this far. Nine years is a great age for a guinea pig.
