Petco is buying Drs. Foster and Smith

Bad news for those of us who order from Drs Foster and Smith to keep from frequenting PetCo and PetSmart. Petco is buying them.

This is bad news. They've had the best price on just about everything.

I didn't realize they bought Petfinder, too. That's really sad about Drs. Foster & Smith. That was my favorite place to buy my hay from.......

I think I may write Dr Foster and Smith and tell them how disappointed I am and that they may lose lots of guinea pig orders because of Petco's selling of animals. I'm perfectly aware though that it won't make a bit of difference to them. Sigh.

What do people buy from Drs. Foster and Smith? Just curious. I've only ever bought fish supplies that are unavailable locally. Everything for my pigs I buy from the feed store.

That is such disappointing news. At least some of the products that Drs. Foster & Smith sells are available on Amazon.

I buy Oxbow hay from them. Their prices on hay are lower than any of the other boxed hays.

Re: Petco is buying Drs. Foster and Smith

Oh my god is this article full of just utter baloney.

"This move underscores our commitment to nurturing the complete health and well-being of animals and further allows Petco to meet the diverse and expansive needs of pet parents," said Jim Myers, Petco CEO. "As pet lovers first and foremost, our values are perfectly aligned with Drs. Foster and Smith, and we're confident this new addition to our business will help us continue to offer the very best in products and services to pets and pet parents."

"Petco provides customers with high-quality pet food, supplies and services, driven by the understanding that pet health goes beyond basic needs to include support of the physical, mental, social and emotional needs of pets. The acquisition will complement Petco's existing capabilities in pet health to include prescription services, including prescription diets, preventive care and a broad base of products created by licensed veterinarians."

"Petco is a leading pet specialty retailer that focuses on nurturing powerful relationships between people and pets. We do this by providing the products, services, advice and experiences that keep pets physically fit, mentally alert, socially engaged and emotionally happy. Everything we do is guided by our vision for Healthier Pets. Happier People. Better World."

    Good grief.

Re: Petco is buying Drs. Foster and Smith

Um, yeah right. "Nurturing the complete well-being of pets?" THEN WHY DO YOU BUY FROM ANIMAL MILLS?? This entire article just makes me want to march on over to Petco and punch the CEO...

Petco doesn't even offer Oxbow brand products so not sure how they can claim to be concerned about the health of animals.

I get Mooshy's American Pet Diner high fiber hay and the Smaks cookies from them. They also have great prices on planet pleasures shreddable toys that Mooshy loves to shred. The prices are great and the customer service is bar none. I'm on a tight income so for this stuff, I'll still order these online but still won't go in stores.

This was very disappointing to hear. I have been a long time shopper of Dr. Foster and Smith, since I began my fish keeping. I did just make an order through them and made a long comment on this. Petco will just ruin Dr. F&S, raise prices and lower the quality of these items. I so hope they don't go through with this.

They did or maybe still do have nice savings for cyber Mon. Bought more stuff for Mooshy. If they do raise prices and or quality/quantity goes down then I'm done with them as the main reason I shop there is for the prices and selection.

Yup, that's what I was doing. Yay, for Cyber Monday! Got new plant lights, filter media, a background, and a heater for the new tank I got. Now I can't wait for this Friday! That is what I absolutely love about this site is the good quality, lower prices, the types of products, and the customer service. Its hard to find good quality items in a small area without paying an arm and a leg for them.

I just went back and stocked up more on Mooshy's Smaks cookie treats! Price you can't beat, I mean they've had it as buy 3 and you get it for $3.59 each and now it's $2.39 each! I cut a cookie in half and give it to her for dessert at night. She loves them as a treat. The site is super slow so I think everyone is there stocking up! Not sure when the sale ends as it could be today so I'm back stocking up again!

Oh and at the end you can take a survey. Go through the whole thing because at the end you can put your comments, and that's where I'm going to write about Petco taking over....
