    Talking My cage!

I just got my two new guinea pigs, and they are the cutest things ever! Their names are Jupiter and Newton. I didn't expect them to be so big however, but, the cage seems a decent size for them, as the cage they were previously in was a bit smaller. (please don't mind how girly it is.)

Feel free to give your opinion on the cage! I'm obviously gonna take them out a lot and have them run around, so they will have tons of exercise.

From the picture it doesn't look to big. The minimum for two is a 2x4. Could you give us the measurements.

    Re: My cage!

You cage is too small for even one pig. Can you do two full grids deep?

If the table is too small, you can get a piece of plywood and place the cage on top.

Edit to add: Your cage is very cute.

Also wanted to add that these grids are very light. Make sure you have a way to secure them to the table. Your pigs might be able to bump them off the table when they run laps. The whole thing can come collapsing down.

As everyone else mentioned, it'd be great if you could extend it to 2 full grids length. If you can't get a piece of plywood right away, you could also put a shower curtain under the fleece/absorbent pad and put the cage on the floor (the shower curtain would protect the floor). I love your fleece, by the way!

    Re: My cage!

Thanks guys for all your opinions. I might try the shower certain idea and have the cage on the floor and extend it a little. In the mean time, the cage will have to do for now.

I love the fleece too! c:

I love your grids! I'd ask where you got them but finding the regular square ones in the UK was hard enough, definitely not finding ones those pretty here!

Caution to you that they don't chew through those. Thats a very flimsy plastic and my girls would be through that in three seconds flat.

What are you using under your fleece now? If it's just fleece then table, your table will get dirty pretty quickly.

Under the fleece I have a towel, then the coroplast.

Ok. That will work. Is your coroplast big enough for a 2 grid deep cage? If it is, you don't need shower curtain.

Lol so cute but do you have boy piggys in a barbie pink cage . Sinve they are babies the cage may look big in comparision but by 4months of age the cage will feel quite small especially if they are big on exploring as some babies are. I would say a 2x4 is perfect and would last their life times.

Lol I know. I was planning on getting an Abby and Teddy named Peanut and Popcorn, who were both females, but peanut had a strange bald spot on her tummy, so the lady asked the people they got her from about what it was, and she told her teddies are known to have skin issues. She didn't want me to go through another unhealthy pig, so I went for Jupitner and Newton, who I previously picked.

They aren't babies actually. They're full grown adults, but their exact age is unknown.
