Introduced Walter to the girls! We'll see how it goes.

So Walter's quarantine ended today, and after a long awkward buddy bath while I got the cage ready to go everybody is dry and getting to know one another. Seras is being a grumpy troll, Pip is being bossy, and Walter just wants to eat hay- so business as usual I guess. There has been some rumbling and charging but nothing physical so far. It'll take me a while to get used to the big new cage though.

The plan is to eventually add in a 1x3 loft, but that'll likely only be used by Pip so I wasn't in a rush to add it on.

    Any thoughts?

Personally, I would take the pigloo and plastic barn out. They only have one entrance, and it's too easy for pigs to get trapped in there. For the first week or two after I introduce guinea pigs, the only hideys I put in are boxes you can get from a grocery store like Aldi or Costco that I cut a second exit into. I'd also make sure there are at least 3 to minimize fighting over houses. If you have any sort of tunnel you could use that too, such as a bent grid covered in a book cover or a bendable bridge.

Adding on to WheekingPiggies you could also use step stools since they have 4 openings and I see that you have a corner curtain those also have more than one entrance and they fit nicely in corners so that theres more running space, so maybe you could put a couple more in? Other than those things I wish you good luck and that the intros go great!

@WheekingPiggies Pip never uses the hidey's except to sit on top of them, so I'd be wary of adding in boxes that were to tall, but I'll see what I can find. And I'll add in a tunnel, I just didn't want to clutter things up to much when I introduced.

Pip is very loud and nippy this morning though so I'm not sure how smooth this is really going to be.

@guineapigcraz27 I'm thinking about doing that too, my only concern is making them secure enough, because as previously mentioned Miss bossy pants is a Jumper, so it has to be able to support her weight. I'm thinking maybe attaching grommets to the fleece and securing with clips?

You might want to do that if your pig is a jumper. At the moment iam using to strands of fleece that I sewed of to all she corners and and tied them to the bars but that isn't super secure so I would go with the grommets you thought of.

I love your oatmeal hay rack idea! I might add another food dish and water bottle, just in case. That and the hideys, and then you're all set! I hope the intros go well!

They have three water bottles, I was cleaning the third when the pictures were taken, I've also being piling hay around to try and get Walter to move out of the corners- he can't resist fresh hay. Do I need to add in another bowl for pellets too? This cage is going to get very cluttered if I keep adding stuff in. Also thank you- After I switched to KMS hay I found that my store bought hay rack just couldn't hold the extra long hay, so we switched to an empty container. Pip likes to stand on her hind legs and shove her whole head and upper body into it to get the fresh hay at the top. I wouldn't recommend it f your guinea pigs are chewers though.

Some guinea pig groups do fine with the pigloos. When they're getting to know one another, they might compete for them. Once they're settled, they'll probably be fine with them. I have Sterlite footstools in my cages but I do add the pigloos for change of scenery sometimes. They seem to appreciate the variety.

yeah I tried the card board box... no one used it. And they rotate pigaloo's pretty evenly so I took the box out because Pip jumped up and peed on it... naughty thing.
They're doing better now, but Walter still seems pretty ostracized from the other too, although I think Pip is warming up to him. Seras is just a grumpy troll who doesn't like anyone.

I like pigloos. I actually have both a pigloo and a barn too. Whether to use them or not is really a judgment call in my opinion. If they're not causing fights, they're fine.
