All 4 of my sows have lice. Willow who is a long haired guinea pig has them the worst.

Here is my line of questions!

What is the fastest and best way to get rid of lice?

Can I get the lice?

Will my dogs get lice?

How did they get the lice?

I don't know what to do about lice in guineas but.. Clean everything. You may try cutting their hair? I'd ask someone with more experience first..

I believe guinea pig lice and mites are species specific but I could be wrong. Maybe you could shave your longest haired pig? https://www.guinealynx.info/lice.html It says you can treat with Advantage or Ivermectin.

I was told by my vet that guinea pigs lice are species specific. I used Revolution (requires a prescription) to treat lice, but I know you can use topical ivermectin too.

ETA: My vet believed mine got lice from the pet store bedding I bought.

I believe Revolution will help. It clears lice, flea, or mites on guinea pigs.... But you might need multiple doses if it's really serious.

Went to the vet today and the piggie's have fur mites. My vet prescribed me Revolution.

I later on I will use ivermectin once it arrives.

Revolution works fast for mites and lice, and you might not need any more treatments. Occasionally one more treatment might be needed a couple of weeks later.

Ivermectin needs to be used three treatments, each a week apart.

In my opinion Revolution works fastest and is easiest, except you need to get it at the vet.
