Weight Does he look overweight?

I haven't got a small scale (really should buy one

).
Husband keeps saying Whistles is fat. And he isn't saying it to joke around. He seriously thinks Whistles is fat :'(
In truth, I don't think he is fat. He maybe a lil over weight, but I don't think he is fat. He is a long piggy, so when he bunches up he looks fat.
He gets 1/4 cup (maybe even less) of pellets(and he doesn't even finish his pellets). 1 cup of veggies in the morning(9am-10am)/another cup at dinner (5pm) and of course he gets unlimited hay.

Your hubby may be on to something. Usually most of us on here recommed 1 cup of veggies per day, not per serving.

I don't think he looks that large in the photos, but a digital kitchen scale would be able to tell you for certain. (Plus they are good to keep on hand just to monitor health.)

Other guinea pigs? Are you sure he's a male? (pregnancy) I feed my
Gpigs 2-3 handfuls of food each meal along with some veggies. Guinea pigs
Seem to control how much they eat.

You might need to reduce the veggies to 1 cup a day, but other than that I think he's fine. Boars tend to be a little more "hunky chunky" than sows. However, I do think those photos were taken at an unflattering angle and he would be mortified if he saw them lol

VERY CERTAIN he is a male. There's no mistaking male parts for females

I do agree. He kept looking back at me with the expression of "what are you doing back there??"
hes quite the camera ham and I had to distract him with food xD

Guinea pigs Seem to control how much they eat.

I've never seen GP's control how much they eat unless their mouths are full, LOL.

I don't think he's fat at all. That's what GP's look like. Even the worst pic, from the back-mine all look like that, even underweight Bob's butt looks that way. Hubs is just jealous, lol. Whistles is a good lookin' pig.

You can get a cheap scale at WalMart (I'm told) for $10. Just make sure it's digital, and weighs in gms and lbs. It's easier to track their weight by gms.

He looks like a normal piggy to me, maybe a little bit over weight but certainly not FAT! BTW I suggest getting a scale too, you can find a decent one as cheap as $15 on amazon.com - that's where I got mine and it works great!!

This piggie does not appear fat at all!

I call ours hairy and fat to drive Nancy nuts -- Exotics vet says they are fine!

Do get a scale and record the weights roughly each week. It is interesting to see the weights go steadily up when the piggies are young and then stabilize once they are mature.

Large dips are a sign of troubles and if the weights do not stabilize once mature, the little gluttons have you wrapped around their toes!

I'm still wanting to get him a friend. I wanting for Whistles to further relax in his new cage and for the extra money spending to tone down. IDK why I threw out that coroplast. I knew I shoulda kept the larger pieces

I KNOW I'll haveta expand the loft for his friend and MAYBE the lower level.

What happened to Billy Ojars?

Careful with upper levels when introducing a new boar. I got rid of my loft because it became something to fight over. Someone was always guarding the ramp and it created lots of tight spaces.
I like having big open cages now for the boys to get along in.

We took a longish trip and housed the piggies at a local rescue run by two vet techs. Seems Billy there for the first time and still young pined for Nancy and would not eat. Lucky we came back when we did. Buddy -- no problem -- the hungry bugger!

Subsequent housings have been no issue -- we like to support the rescue and pop in a few bucks more than the requested daily rates.

When we moved I laid out a new single large loft and put in two ramps!

Your guinea pig is in good shape, but you should reduce the veggies a little bit. My guinea pig is a bit big too, but he's on a little diet.

I know, I was thinking of doing something like that. Maybe turn the 2X4 into a 3X4 or 2X5 and create a loft like this one: 2 ramps, really nothing to guard over and keep the other pig from

That and I'd be keeping 2 food/water sources should 1 decide to not share.
