So seeing as I'm stuck at home sick..I decided I'd think of ways we could put the cages for the boy's in the rescue..we had been thinking we could do a 2x4 stacked and an 2x5 stacked..but It wouldn't work..

So here are a couple of ways I've thought off.
Right now all we have set up for boys is a 2x4 stacked and none of the pairs come in or that we've bonded together had fought from being in a 2x4..probably because it's bigger then the usual 3 or 5 sq ft cages pigs are housed in in NZ where the owners don't know better..

Two 2x4 stacked cages:

Or a 2x4 and an 2x5 stacked cage...It might be the best way..But we're putting the big couch in that room..so would have to see if the cages stick out too far...

Or two 2x4 stacked cages a different way!:

Do you have any other ideas?
The back wall is only 5 and just less then half a gird wide.

You could try turning the 2x4 on the left sideways so the long side is against the wall.

Why won't stacking work?

Stacking is what we're gonna do, it allows us to make more cages for them. :)

What wouldn't work is doing a 2x4 on the right and then a 2x5 L shape with the back 3 grids against the wall because it's not 5 girds long. :)

Okay. Gotcha.

How many cages altogether? Four?

We were thinking two stacked which would be four cages...but I'm open to any ideas, though the more cages the better.

We've only had single males or pairs come through so far.

It seems like an L shape would be open and easier to clean?

Wow lissie!

That is such a cool idea..sadly I think reaching into the top one would be to hard for me to clean...though..we might try it.

Oh, that looks awesome! If it's too high, what about putting the top level parallel to the second level, on the other side? Like u shape.
Would the bottom cage get enough light?

A U shape might be hard to clean/move. You have a point about the light, though; but guinea pigs don't need much direct light.

How about just stacked 2x5-ish? If you make the front panel flip down for every level, shouldn't be too hard to reach, right?

Just showed this idea to mum and she loves it!
We'll probably make this one as it gives us 4 2x5!

You're so amazing at coming up with cage ideas!

I'll probably wake up early tomorrow and start to build the cage..Now I'm excited!

Glad she likes it. Not really my idea. I've seen it in the gallery.

You can use wood to support the cage.

Bottom cage done! Jasper and Chester in..they've been here the longest so they get to go from the 2x4 to 2x5 first!

Now I'm going to make up the second one..and put Toby and Token in it!

Second level done..
Toby is the boy who had the lump on his leg removed..nearly lost his leg..so he has to be kept divided from his buddy Token while he heals from the OP.
