download.jpegphoto.jpgHelp! My friend's guinea pig has watery eyes and a crusty nose! He won't eat and is wheezing and trying to breathe but can't. He won't even take peppers or lettuce. The bedding was Pine Cedar, (It's very bad I know, but it isn't my guinea pig and I wasn't aware.) I'm almost positive that's the cause and I just informed them about a bunch of stuff and now we are going to the local Walgreens to buy a fleece blanket for their cage. How do we get rid of the infection though? Please, help! He looks terrible and can hardly breathe. We can't get to a vet anytime soon though, it would have to be an absolute emergency. HELP! D:

Sounds like an absolute emergency to me.. He needs to go to a vet ASAP. I'm no expert but I'd say he has a URI from the cedar.. but the only way to know for sure is to go to an experienced piggy vet.

It is an absolute emergency -- you need to see an emergency vet now.. It may be the bedding, or it may be an URI which needs an antibiotic.

Good for you for getting him off the cedar -- that's a good start.
