Well, Morty got neutered two weeks ago. So, to celebrate, this weekend we built a ramp to connect him to the girls!

I spent $5.30 on this project. We used plastic rain gutters as the ramps! And I lined them with fleece & u haul pads for traction and cleaning. I'm very pleased with how it turned out, and the piggies are CRAZY for the ramps! the love going up and down them.

that is a good idea but i thought you had to wait 6 weeks after a neuter to introduce girls to the boy?

I found this on cavyspirits web page "Make sure you wait three to four weeks after surgery before placing your neutered male with a female. The male needs time for any live sperm to die or work its way out of his system." here is the link its near the bottom. well its less than 6 weeks.

It looks great!

A rescue I know always waits 6 weeks. Maybe it's to be on safe side.

Mine also love their ramp! I love your idea for the plastic gutters- it's amazing the number of items that have some unexpectedly perfect application to guinea pigs :D I also love your cage- did you make the shelves yourself, or are they modified versions of something else?

That's a great idea but I'd round the edges so you don't have injuries if they run into them.

No, the lights are further away than they look, and firmly attached to the underside of the top story.

We custom built out cage. Well, my husband did. lol This is the whole thing (before we installed the ramp)

You know, I didn't even think of that. I bet I could trim it with the snips and then just file it down with a nail file.

Wow that's great! I guess it's the only way you can really get something that's exactly what you want. I love it. :D
