Well, let me be the first to welcome a fellow Canuck home!

And I have to say, if your daughter says he's Peanut, then Peanut he shall be! lol

Looking forward to seeing them...

It'll take him some time, I'm sure. But I think he'll probably love it!

It's not really large enough. No cage sold in a pet store is large enough for a guinea pig. You'd do better to clean it up, return it and get your money back, and build/buy a better cage. You can make one yourself cheaply using the instructions at https://www.guineapigcages.com, or buy one at https://www.guineapigcagesstore.com.

You do know he needs a guinea pig buddy, don't you? They're herd animals, and are much happier and more social if they've got another pig in the cage.

Or maybe you could just store it somewhere and use that cage as quarantine cage if you get a buddy

bpatters.. I am well aware that c and c cages are the better way to go, i have had one before, but during a move all my grids got lost...and i also have 3 cats, so i prefer to make sure he has a closed in cage...

C&C cages can be made with a lid. You can check out the Photo Galleries on here as I'd say about 90% of the cages are C&C. If you click "Closed Cages" it'll only show cages that are completely closed.

C&Cs are not the only option, there are a lot of alternative cages in the Photo Galleries as well.

C&Cs are actually not that expensive for most and I think you can easily make a new one for less money that was spent on that pet store cage you have (Pet store cages are SO overpriced for the ridiculously small space you get. C&Cs can be anywhere between $30-$50, depending on where you live and where you get the supplies).

Your pig will really benefit from a larger cage; keeping him in a small cage, especially when he has a friend living with him, is not fair. It's like you or me being kept in a walk-in closet for life (And just to add, keeping a piggie alone is like you living alone for life, never being able to talk or interact with anyone. Can you imagine how sad and lonely that would make you feel?).

Piggies need a large flat space to run laps and popcorn on their own "body clock". Providing an adequate cage is part of guinea pig care. See guineapigcages.com for cage size standards. You need to look at the page so you can figure out what size cage to build/buy. Remember, bigger is always better; never hesitate to expand a cage if you know you can and you have space. Every extra inch can benefit him.

21231191_10155847394844015_99653710113043537_n.jpg as you all can see he is cage isnt all that crowded after all....I know some of you dont believe in store bought cages but for some of us
a big huge cage isnt an option due to other animals or because of apartment living... but i can assure you he is a happy lil guinea pig, he gets out regularly and has been pop-corning around this cage without any issues.. and yes his hidey is a clean used Coffee Can..

I have had c and c cage in the past with my first set of guineas 5 years ago...but i had a bigger place then and no cats... and well my mom lost all my grids as well....and honestly, i just find them just too big even a 2x3 is too big for where i live now..

1617874_10152183913924015_1749710743_o.jpgthis was my first set of guineas 4 or 5 years ago back in 2014...

I'm in Ontario too! If you live in a GTA area, I know there are Bed, Bath, and Beyonds in Downtown Toronto, Mississauga, Markham, and Richmond Hill. They are only $30! Much better than the $50 at Canadian Tire.

CrystalCavy im in a little small village called Chesterville,Ontario I have no gta in my area of my village everything i would have to drive if i could at least 1hour away to get the mats for a c and c...

I priced out corrugated plasic aka coroplast at homedepot and its 37.58.. so if you added up everything it would still cost me roughly over 100.00 to make another c and c cage.
