My 8-month old female Cocoa's wellness exam & bloodwork were excellent.
While we were there, I asked her vet about the idea that young females "should" be spayed to eliminate the risks associated with reproductive cancers in old age.
Naturally, the Dr. is cautious about performing ANY "elective" surgery, and is presently researching the statistics regarding anesthetically-caused deaths in Guinea Pigs, regardless of the procedure.
I am looking for your experienced opinion: how often do non-spayed elderly females contract reproductive cancers requiring surgery ???
Thank You.
