They usually start with Bactrim or Doxycycline for young pigs, but if it doesn't work, they sometimes have to use Baytril anyway.

Absolutely get the powdered kind and start giving it as soon as you start the antibiotics.

But Amazon has plenty of Bene-Bac in gel form -- I just looked.

Also because I got it from the pharmacy there is no line on the syringe for giving it and I am worried of the lines coming off of the syringe also I have never used a 1ml syringe before so drawing it up to 0.25ml is confusing to me.

I don't understand. If there are no lines on the syringe, why are you worried about the lines coming off?

And how do you know to draw it up to .25 ml?

Can you post a picture of the syringe you have?

There are lines on the syringe in case of the lines coming off which they might I would like to draw a line to .25ml but the 1ml syringe confuses the heck out of me.

The lines will eventually wear off, but not quickly. I just used syringes twice a day for three weeks, and by the end of that time, they were beginning to be worn a little.

A 1 cc syringe should be marked off into 10ths, and maybe into hundredths. You want 25 hundredths, or two and a half 10ths.

Are there ten lines between the two and the three? If so, count off five of them.

If not, how many are there between each 10th marker.

Basic math: .25 is halfway between .20 and .30.

Then draw it up to halfway between the second and the third line.

One line marks off .02 (two hundredths), so is .22. The second line marks off .04 (four hundredths) so is .24. The third line marks off .06 (six hundredths), so .26. That's too much. You want halfway between .24 ml and .26 ml.

See the .2 mark on the syringe?

See the .3 mark on the syringe?

Draw it up HALFWAY between those two marks.

There's nothing hard about this if you'll just read it carefully, and go step by step. Practice with some water if you're not sure.

Pigs are still coughing and sneezing on day 7 of the antibiotics also it seems like the pharmacy shorted on the antibiotics and yes I have followed the directions of the antibiotics.

What symptoms of a URI is he having?
A month or so I read about cleaning ears on this forum. My girls were 5 months old and I was horrified by the dirt that came out. Let me be clear-I did not insert the qtip into the ear canal, I used it in the outer ear before the canal. And I also use coconut oil for ears1-2x a week.
I pray your pigs will be better in no time!
