Hi everyone!

Just wanted to drop by and say this is a really great community. I've had Teemo and Rupert for about 6 months now and they keep me busy lol. I was wondering if ya'll could help me identify their breed?

TeemoRupert

Thanks a bunch!

Welcome to the forums! Your pigs are adorable! I think Teemo is a Sheltie and Rupert looks like a Peruvian whose had a hair cut.

Oh great that's what I was thinking too! As a teen I had 2 female aby's that i absolutely loved. It's fun to get a different breed this time around.

Am I crazy or do male guineas poop and pee more than females? I feel like the upkeep with Teemo & Rupert is greater then my Aby's in the past.

I'm VERY partial to Abys. As a breed, they are intelligent, curious, mischievous, talkative, and tend to have long lean bodies with long legs and are often quite athletic. I have almost always had boys so haven't much opinion about gender differences.

Until recently I had a female Texel and Maya was lovely, but just "dumb as a stump". She was the ultimate lap piggy, but her "brother", an Aby, would just talk and talk to her and to our knowledge, she rarely, if ever, had much conversation with him. And, she was far messier than Chester. I have two teenage Aby boys now, and they chatter to each other--and to us--almost incessantly when they are out for lap time. They tend to use the litter boxes most of the time.

LOL oh that sounds very cute. I guess gender doesn't mean much since you had an opposite experience as my Teemo is a stump like your Maya lol. I wanted an Aby again but had the hardest time finding one in my area. Have a good day!

Welcome!

Since you're new to guinea pigs, here's a good reading list for you:

As for the breeds, silkie/shelti would be Teemo and Rupert is an Abby!
I find some piggies do poop more but honestly they are all little poop machines.
