I am supposed to give him back, but she said I can keep him as long as I want to at the "piggy spa". (more like the piggie rehab center). I am hoping thatshe will just let me keep him for good. I am still talking it over iwith my landlord.

My friend is the same way and no matter how many times I tell her or how many times I sent this forum to her, she still doesn't change anything. Maybe you can take videos and pictures of him while he's at your house and show your friend how happy he is living in this condition, so she can either realize and change or give him to you permanently!
I have also commented on peoples pictures saying that "those treats are bad," "they shouldn't have salt or mineral licks," "vitamin c drops shouldn't be given and are pointless," and "that C&C cages are great for guinea pigs, maybe you can try one."
^Some one posted a picture of their new cage (which the same as my old pet store cage, I use it as a transporter, and only use it as an actual cage for when we go on vacation) and they said how they finally had enough money to buy their dream cage. I thought to myself, you probably could've built a C&C cage for less money. I nicely told her that C&C cages are bigger and better and that two guinea pigs need at least 76x127 cm of space. She rudely said I take care of guinea pigs how I think they should be taken care of. Like I understand but you aren't taking care of them correctly and I want you to realize that. Another person posted a quick video of their morning routine. They had a proper sized cage but crappy pellets. Me and someone else told her that guinea pigs need 1/8 plain Timothy pellets and that colored bits are bad for guinea pigs and result in picky eating. She said that we shouldn't be telling her how HER guinea pig should live and that her vet recommend those pellets. Pretty sure it wasn't an exotic vet, because they know they get plain pellets.
I just wish people would realize guinea pigs need so much specific care and that people will actually give their guinea pigs that care.

Wow,I'm glad someone else knows how I feel. I do that sort of thing all the time. I seriously am just going to keep him. Over the weekend I've been up at my parents house and I always bring the pigs and cats with me. My little sister Maddie has a cage under her bed that the pigs stay in while I am here, and Maddie takes care of them.
My parents told me that I have too many pets and that I can't handle another pig. But what's the difference? I have a good job, and have resources for good cheap supplies, and a large enough apartment. I so glad this didn't happen when I was younger I would of never been able to keep him if I still lived at my parent's house.

I know. Here are some pics of Sven and the "cage" he had been living in.

IMG_6914.jpg As you can see I left the salt lick in there since I have absolutely no use for it and it's bad for him anyways. The green thing in the picture held with food bowl.

Thanks! I love him already to bits. He is the cutest! You think the cage in the picture is small? Last year when Leanna first got him, he was in a storage bin HALF this size. But now he's in my 2x6........Doing Zoomies!

Your friend & her husbands' belief they can treat animals however they like because their 'religion' allows them is so twisted. I hate to think what they are teaching their children! What about the other animals? They may be 'ok', but being confined (the dog) to a cage without exercise & socialisation is a case for RSPCA to check up on.
It's sad how Christianity is so poorly portrayed by some. For one thing it isn't a religion unless people like your friend make it so; it's about faith & relationship with our Lord Jesus.
@blessedmom explains clearly, & with that responsibility also comes accountability if we choose to do otherwise. I feel both annoyed & sorry for your friend, as she's missing something very special.
Besides, regardless of religion, care for animals' welfare is a moral & ethical must, ignored by so many all over the world.
Anyway, I'm so glad you now have Sven. Maybe seeing the difference will help soften your friend's attitude.

I am also very saddened by the way she treats her pets. It might be the cause of low budget, but why have animals on a low budget if you can't make their lives good? They should be left for someone with a better funding to adopt them. The dog, Poppy, is a border collie mix and has seizures quite often. They do give her medicine, but Leanna doesn't like Poppy because she "violent". She jumps up on you and tries to play. I always try to take her on a walk while I'm at her house. She tries to make Poppy walk behind her so that she knows that Leanna is the leader, not her. She is very mean to her.

That does sound mean. I just saw a lady walking her dog outside who did the same thing. Let the dog live a little. My friend who I explained above has a low budget and if her guinea pig ever got sick she would not be able to take it to the vet because of the cost. I feel bad that she doesn't have enough money but why get a big responsibility like a guinea pig if you can't afford it.

If you truly want to, even on a low budget you can take decent care of your pets. They may not have the top of the line but they can have a real cage, not a storage tub! That almost made me cry. There are some people that can't afford pets but most just can't afford the several they have and the reality is that it's likely more about choices. Do they have cable, smoke cigarettes, rent movies, have ipods? I wonder how many people out there let their pets live like crap because their "too poor" but they have 3 cans of soda every day and order pizza every Friday! I will get off my high horse now :)
I'm in love with that little guy already! I would take him in a heartbeat. I know, give him to me and tell her someone broke in and stole him!

Exactly! awe @blessedmom I am going to give Leanna a reel about guinea pigs. She has internet, and ipads, etc. But hardly has the "money" to take care of poor little Sven.
I love him already. Today is his third day, and his scurvy is leaving him! Yippee! I just love the little twist of fur on his forehead.....A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E!!!!!!
