I was just curious to who here takes there piggies outside in the grass and 1) if your pigs liked it and 2) do you use any flea tick repellents?
I plan on taking mine out today (it's super nice out and we've never treated out lawn for anything) cause I know Bernard loves being out side. And it's like 50 outside and not even 11 am yet.

My pigs aren't really big fans, I occasionally take them out so they can have a bit of a romp around in the grass. Just make sure that your grass is free from fertilizers and pesticides. While rare, it is possible for guinea pigs to pick up parasites from outside (Just to clarify, guinea pigs rarely ever get fleas and flea repellents are often unsafe for cavies). Just make sure you supervise him at all times and make sure he is in an enclosed area :)

Oh I have a portable fence that they stay in and they get separate turns cause of the different sexes. I read somewhere that frontline for kittens can be used?

Even if they're in a pen, you still need to be out there with them at all times. A portable fence won't protect them from predators. Shortly after someone adopted a guinea pig from our rescue, she called crying that a hawk got her guinea pig she had in a portable pen while she ran in the house for a minute. It takes a split second.

This picture is from last year. My piggies like to munch the grass and be outside, but I've since moved into an apartment building and they spray the grass here, so I can't take them outside :(

I wish I could have Ferb on the grass but I live in a condo and they spray it with fertilizer and weed killer. Sometimes I sit outside on my deck with Ferb on my chest for 10-15 mins, he freezes every time a bird calls but I think a bit of sunlight is good for him.
