New to peeg town!

I have an albino piggie named Voldemort, (Morty for short) and I've had him for under a year. I love him a bunch. He is the sweetest peeg ever. I just recently switched to fleece, and was reading about fleece options on this site and decided to join.

Also, I am interested in getting Morty a friend. I just bought a bigger cage... but the issue is that Morty is an adult male (and he's HUGE) and I would love recommendations on introducing a friend.

there r lots of threads on here about introductions. Finding a friend should be fairly easy. You have lots of options. You can either add another male (young or old) or if you'd prefer you can get him neutered and add a girlfriend. Just have them separated for 3 weeks after the surgery (which is the normal quarantine period anyway).

@MuggleMaggie you would have to ask your cavy savvy vet. the cost depends on the vet. I have all girls so I'm not too much help in that area lol

Well, look on craigslist or kijiji (sp?). Or at the top of the page their should be a "adopt a guinea pig" tab that will take you to a pet finder page. but like I said, if you get a female, you will need to get this one neutered. Pregnancy and child birth are very dangerous for piggies.

a friend for him would be fab. Another boar might be best, it would save neutering him, but you need to make sure your cage is big enough. Definitely adopting a rescue/unwanted pig is best.

Petfinder has been failing me. no piggies within at least an hour drive of me. I checked craigslist, too... and the only one even remotely close, I'm pretty sure is a breeder posing as a pet owner trying to get rid of their piggies. I wouldn't mind adopting... if I could find one! He would love a friend, I think.

Oh, and I do NOT want pig babies. I'm scared of getting what I think is another male, and ending up getting a female. That would not be good... But I really don't want to put Morty through getting neutered, either. I need to be sure that I am getting a boy.

@MuggleMaggie pet finder can still be a helpful tool. I found a guinea pig on there that was two hours away and the wonderful woman was willing to meet me half way
