Hello all, recently I've noticed that whenever my guinea pig is sitting or in a resting position I sometimes notice him rocking back and forth. Ive done my research as much as I can but haven't found any videos of other pigs doing what mine does so it's hard to tell if it's a serious issue or not. I could not upload a video here so I uploaded it to YouTube for yall https://youtu.be/IXOpZIrcjWU
P.s. I can confirm that it is not because he was chewing something

I can't see what you're talking about. He looks like he's perfectly still to me, except for moving his head a little.

I know it can be a little hard to tell on camera but if you look at his head you can see he does quick jerks back and forth

He didn't look to be rocking back and forth to me. His head was moving a little but it looked like that was due to his breathing. Nothing unusual there.

Also if it helps he never does it unless he's resting. In other words he doesn't move like that when he's standing still

It might help to have a longer video taken so the whole pig is visible. But I don't see anything wrong in that one.

What it looks like to me is normal breathing, then sniffing and taking quick breaths, then normal breathing again. You would only notice that when he’s laying down. The next time you notice him rocking, see if his nose is moving or raised up to sniff.

I do believe I can see what you're talking about. Do you mean, his head bobbing forward and backward?

This is due to him breathing. Most of my pigs have done this, and have done it MUCH more pronounced when they were ill. My little guy Simon does this, while Leo does not.

It's almost imperceptible in your little guy, so I wouldn't think it's anything to worry about.

Yes that is what I'm talking about. Good to know it's not something to worry about because ive been doing research and it's all terrifying. Thank you for the reply
