My two girls are now in a 2x7 with 2x3 basement, a design I borrowed from Pigger123. (Thank you, Pigger123!!) It was previously a 2x6 but I wanted to give them more space. They are basically free-range now: the basement level has a fold-down front that I keep clipped up out of the way and they can come and go as they like. Outside the cage there is fleece for them to walk on and a 1x2-size hay box that you can just see at the bottom right of the pic. (That's my gerbil tank you can also just see at the bottom right.) I am going to experiment with a loft next and see how they like it.

My girls new enclosure. They have so much more room now and love sleeping underneath the upper level.

I see you've got the pigloo from petco (i think it was).
What do you think of it?

I removed the 'padding' slipe that is in it and created my own little pee-pads that I can slide in (and change every 1-2 days). My boy seems to like it, but tends to roll it on it's side sometimes but my only dislike for it is that the 'fuzz' tends to stink after awhile if he rolled the bed and pee'd a little on the side. It doesn't stay in shape well when washed but it can be washed in a machine but dried outside or on low in a dryer. I did make my own (the purple/grey one) but I think the Petco brand is an alright pigloo.

Here is Bailey Noel's just finished 2x3 with a 1x1 attachment!

She has a 1x2 'Kitchen' with a hay rack, pellet bowl, and water bottle. What's under it is a microfiber mat and it's awesome!!!!

Then she has 2x2 to run around in and a chew toy.

And she has a 1x1 'Sleeping' area with her absolute favorite pillow.

The last picture is her asking 'is this for me to?' because she's not used to having everything to herself

@joys_cavies The cage looks great!
Why is the water bottle so yellow? Did you put vitamin drops in the water?

No. The lighting in my room is painfully yellow. It also has light green bubbles, so the contrasting colors could be why.

And thanks for the cage compliment!!! [emoji4]

Everyone’s cages look great! @joys_cavies, it might be a good idea to put a piece of plastic along the back of your hayrack, to prevent hay falling out the side of the cage. :) one less thing to clean up!

@Piggly12 thanks for the suggestion! Do you think paper may work?

Just a normal sheet of paper? That should work, but it would probably need replacing often, as it might get scrunched up or torn. Do you have any spare corflute you could use? Otherwise a zip-tied piece of cardboard might work...

Ok So I thought I would post some pictures up as well.. You THINK you build a big enough space for your piggies but it never seems like enough. But I am hoping this one holds them for a bit.

20150519_153701.jpg

It is a 2x5 with a 1x2 upstairs kitchen and a 1x2 downstairs kitchen. Bedding is made out of fleece and Zorb with a vinyl lined bottom. Works great! You can see their night light on the right hand side that helps them see around in the evening.

While I think this cage is perfect size for them right now (all girls under 9 months old), soon it may be time to go with a 2x7 OR think about a basement or second loft. So in the summer time mornings and evenings, they get to vacation at their cabana:

This is a 3x2.5 raised garden bed with Organic Bermuda and Wheat Grass, several munchie plants, and a sun shade. When the girls come out we bring out their XL Pigloo and a water bottle. They love to eat grass and popcorn around. Being here in the south, it is ALMOST too warm even in the evenings to bring them out and definitely too hot in the days but they still get some good use out of it.

So any ways, that is it in a nut shell.. Thanks for all the ideas I have found here on the forums.. Keep them coming!

This was right after I cleaned their cage. Have only had them for a week, they are both quite skittish but have finally started actually eating their veggies and running around in front of me, they would just freeze before! Their names are Sage & Tulip.

@Xyzpdq0121 I love your raised garden bed!!! Do you have to clean that or does their pee and poop just go down into the ground? It's so clever! I just love it!
