I find it so frustrating when trying to sweep or vacuum the fleece, it shifts around or gets sucked up the vacuum hose, and the little poos all just roll away. So aggravating, especially when I am trying to get my 10 year old to do it, she gets really aggravated. So how do you stop your fleece from shifting around or getting sucked up the vacuum hose?

Does he fleece have anything else sewn to it, like uhaul pads? That might make it heavier. U could also try some bricks or something heavy in the corner of the cage to weigh it down. I just shake my fleece out outside when I need to wash it and in between washes I sweep it, with a dust pan broom while holding it still. I've never tried to vacuum it think the vacuum would just suck up the blanket..

Try lowering the suction on the vacuum by opening the vent so it's not as strong.

You can also (in addition to Traysea's & My 3 little piggies suggestions) try using the small brush attachment. That will also cause a little less suction since the long bristles allow some distance between the fulll suction and the fleece.

That's a good idea @Gandalf. Or maybe a handheld vacuum has less suction..

What kind of vacuum are you using? This is the vacuum I have and I highly recommend it. With no attachment on it it picks everything up swiftly without getting the fleece caught. It also has an attachment for fur that really works! The fur sweeper attachment is great for cleaning hair off the fleece as well as cat hair from coats and the couch. The only downside to the vacuum is that the motor can heat up fast. I've used other hand vacuums working at a pet store and I don't think they've ever done near as good as a job as this one does. I received it as a Christmas present from my in laws last year. I just looked up the price and honestly thought it would of cost twice what it does. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/bissell-pet-hair-eraser-bagless-hand-vac-black-pearl/8931819.p?id=1215217074016&skuId=8931819&ref=06&loc=01&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=8931819&extensionType={adtype}:{network}&s_kwcid=PTC!pla!{keyword}!{matchtype}!{adwords_producttargetid}!{network}!{ifmobile:M}!{creative}&kpid=8931819&k_clickid=2b97e887-9daa-b509-bb9a-00004b17a3e5

I have that issue with vacuuming too, so I basically just shake my fleece out outside, and then hang it over a washing line and batter it a bit with a bristle brush. That seems to get pretty much everything out for me :)

I experimented with several kinds of small little hand brooms until I found one that worked nicely. I also am thinking maybe a brick or two where are you are working in the cage would help hold it down.

If you tilt the vacuum attachment it won't suck up the fleece.

That looks really handy. I've been using a small shop vac, but the suction is so strong that even with the brush, the fleece sometimes can get sucked up.

Oh that is why those suckers are really strong! I find it the easiest even when I am just spot cleaning to just to pick the fleece up shake it into the coroplast, give it a few swipes with the dust broom brush and then pick it all up off the coro with either the dust buster or sweep up with the broom. I have sewn liners though so that won't be as practical as if you're fleece is clipped or for bedspreads.

We are moving our pigs into a refurbished chinchilla cage, so our fleece is a whole fleece blanket, until I can get some coro and find the time to sew fleece flippers. I will try the bricks, and that attachment and if those don't work well enough iI will buy that bissel. Thanks for the good advice :)
