So currently I have a pair of guinea pigs Waldo and Felix (both males) in a 2 and a half by 5, and a lone piggy Timothy in a 2by 3 across my room. I'm getting a new desk and now there wont be enough room for Timothys cage, so I was thinking making a staked cage. The only problem is ill need to make the 2by5 into a 3by3 so it can be staked. So my question is, is it a good idea to put 2 boars in a 3by3 and if it isnt how should I go about making a proper sized staked caged so all the piggies will be happy, any advice helps!

Depends on if you want the stack to have an extra grid in the middle (so you can reach in and under) or if you want drop down or swing open fronts so that you can slide the trays out for cleaning. How high do you want to make the cage? I think two boys in a 3x3 would be fine but if you don't want to do a 3x3 you can still put the 2x3 over the 2x5 or make two 2x5's )

Id say my goal is to have the least number of grids in the middle as possible to be honest kinda like this:

But if i wanted to make the pairs cage bigger (say a 2 by 5 or 3 by 4) how could I make it a staked cage if I wanted my loner pigs cage to still be a 3 by 2 if that makes sense haha

use support bars to hold it up rather than/ in addition to relying on the grids for the support.

I was actually thinking about doing something like that but some extra space in my room would be nice haha, love your cage by the way!

This was a quick change I had to do to stop 2 of them pickin on 1 - but I want to change it up a bit - just haven't decided how yet!! I might go an extra grid wider . . . . I was thinking about stacking but my dad made me the table they are on now an I think it'd be a bit too high up stacked!? Xx ohhhh decisions decisions!! Xx
