Cage Store brought guinea pig cage

No, that's not nearly large enough for one pig, much less two. That cage is roughly .5 square meters, which is less than the minimum for one pig. Even the addition wouldn't bring it up to the right size for one pig.

So a cage that's 176 cm long isn't large enough for two pigs

I'm fairly certain the only acceptable store bought cage available in North America would be the Midwest Guinea Pig Habitat. You can find it on Amazon for a decent price.

Firstly, do you have boys or girls?

For those who don't use the metric system, that works out to be 39.9" long 20" wide and 35" high.

That is smaller than a 2x3 C&C cage, which is the minimum recommended size for a single/female pair of guinea pigs. However, a 2x4 is far preferred.

The dimensions of a 2x3 C&C cage are 42" long, 28" wide, and 14" high. So while it's only 2" shorter, it is 8" narrower.

Plus, those dimensions probably come from the outside of the cage, not inside that blue pan where the animal actually lives. Given that it inclines inwards, I'm guessing that shaves off at least another precious inch of space from the perimeter.

You don't need a high cage for guinea pigs, as they aren't climbers and don't like levels. That cage is more designed for rats. They love to climb and would appreciate all the vertical space, especially if filled with hammocks and all sorts of loungy spots. Guinea pigs are ground animals, they prefer to be on the ground.

If you have a pair of boys, a 2x5 C&C cage is *highly* recommended.

If you have a pair of girls, a 2x4 C&C cage is *highly recommended.

I live in New Zealand and we don't even have c&c cages here and if we want them it cost so much money to get them from America and a cage that big over here would be $400 no joke the blue cage is $120 alone

You don't have to make a C&C cage, there are plenty of alternatives to make a big enough cage. And I'm not positive, but I think there's a New Zealand member on here who does have C&C cages.

That cage is not big enough for any guinea pig of any age or sex. And it would be downright cruel to keep a rabbit in it.

It's 101 cm long and plus 76 cm from the other cage it would be 176 cm long which I thought the minimum was 120cm

There are several users from New Zealand here -- maybe they could help you find a better cage for less money. @oldnewie and @RodentCuddles are both there -- you could PM them and ask.

I just wanted to warn you that several companies advertise their products as "for guinea pigs", when they truly aren't at all. You'll find guinea pigs on the pictures of cages, pellets, treats, and several other things around your local pet store. You'll even see the bag or box say, "For Guinea Pigs". With further research, you'll realize these products are terribly unhealthy and sometimes dangerous. Never completely believe something (and never give it to your guinea pig), until you do further research. If you're wondering if something is okay for your piggies, feel free to ask your questions about it on this forum!

However, you have to have this space be a large, open space. You can't have two cages attached together with only a small door to get through to the other cage, and count that as the same area as if it was a large, open space. They need space to run laps and popcorn.

She's not trying to be rude, just trying to help you understand how much bigger cage you can get, for less. I wish you the best of luck finding the right cage, and I'm sorry, but the one you're showing us is not the right one for you if you really want your pigs to have a good life
