Not sure if you can see these, but this is my current piggy cage! This holds my two adult girls, Cookie and S'mores. They started out in playpens and upgraded to this, and soon they will be upgraded to a 2x6 instead of a 2x3.5 (i'm just eagerly awaiting my etsy purchase of two liners and my cage to ship and arrive) yay tax returns hahaha

Doinkie.jpgPiggie Cage 1.jpgPiggie Cage 2.jpgPiggie Budgie Cages.jpgDink Hay.jpgFinally done--new 2x4 grid addition with store-bought cage as kitchen. Split-leaf philodendron now moved away (poison). Our brand new budgie parakeet above is getting a new, big house built for him too & a companion. When we put the piggies in here they went wild with joy & popcorned so high! They are adorable beyond words!!!

Jumbo Deluxe--oooooh! So pretty!!! It would be so tempting to get more piggies & a huge cage--if I had room. They are so appreciative when we make things better for them.

You inspired me. I'm seriously considering using the 2x4 base I bought for my first cage and making a basement like the link I showed you.

I think I have a nice setup for my two males that are only babies I will upgrade to a 2x5 but I don't have 139 to lay out right now so I think this will do for a week or two :) View attachment 78419View attachment 78420View attachment 78421

Until you can buy or make your own C&C I might consider removing the divider so they at least have the full use of the Midwest for running laps. I had two boars in a Midwest for a while and they did ok without the divider. I actually used the divider and I had panels that were supposed to be a lid and used it to make the cage bigger at one point.

However, when I finally upgraded to a C&C (first I just did 2x4 then 2x5), I was amazed at how much bigger it actually is and how much more active they became!

I added some windows and trim to my cage. I love watching my girls through the new windows.

I made a simple fleece corner curtain for the cage in post (broken link removed) /page 91. I tried the tie-dye green fleece from Joann's & this solid green from Walmart fabrics as liners over wood pellets, but didn't like them nearly as much as the leopard print, so the green can be for experimenting with accessories. Went back to Walmart where I got the leopard fleeces, just the right size for our 2x4, & got a few more. This fleece curtain is tied onto a bird-cage dowel. Dink & Doink love it. I don't think it needs a top because they have 4 covered hidey places. This is Doink! Fleece Forest.jpg

We moved our girls from my oldest son's room to the living room because they were being neglected. We had to go a little smaller, but I think the increased interaction and floor time is more than worth it! Peppermint (white pig) is Cocoa's (darkest pig) daughter. They were rescued in 2014. We added Maple (tri-color) when she ended up in the local shelter at only 5 months old about a year ago.
They are in a 5x2, divided into a 3 2/3 grid fleece over uhaul pad run and a 1 1/3 wood pellet café area with a hay rack and two water bottles.
(Btw, I had another profile but couldn't reset or recover password.)

Just finished building my very first C&C cage. Took me about a week to get the materials and build but I'm pretty happy with it! The top is where my skinny pig Harry will live. The bottom is for a bunny when we get one. It wasnt a cheap project for me in Canada that's for sure!
Couldn't find the grids anywhere, found a six pack of cubes at Canadian Tire and bought three boxes. Couldn't find anywhere to cut coroplast for me until finally I found a sign store who would do it. Home depot had giant sheets but wouldn't cut for me.

Three boxes of grids - $150
Two sheets of coroplast - $30
200 pack of cable ties - $14

=2x4 c&c cage at $194. Not too bad considering pet store cage prices!

Not to mention I bought a fleece cage liner from piggy bedspreads. THAT was a whopping $155. :eek:hmy: For one liner! My own fault I'm an idiot and didn't pay attention to shipping cost or currency exchange.

Oh well. Harry is one lucky piggy! I hope he likes it! Won't be able to put him in it until I get the liner and accessories. Let me know what you think!

Today I added a corral made of grids that can be added or removed easily. Now Dink & Doink can have floor time & we can both sit in it with them. So far they have not ventured out even though I have a lettuce trail to tempt them. Other photos without corral on page 91, post (broken link removed) . Corral.jpg

Ha ha, I was fooling myself thinking I was going to only have the corral (photo in above post 1826) set up part-time. The piggies are using it & we are all having so much fun! Dink climbed onto my lap. They haven't peed or pooped in it & I don't think they will because they are used to doing that in the cage on fleece or pellets. No dominance stuff. I'll close the door when I'm gone or at night to keep them inside. At night I'll scoot the whole thing over so we don't trip over it in the dark. I think I've reverted back to childhood--this would have been a dream come true.
