This. Is. PERFECT! Thank you SO SO much for this!!!! I've been waiting to make a C&C cage because I was concerned about (A) Them digging up the fleece (B) Them pooping on the surface after they dig up the fleece, and (C) Getting it to fit on a second-level cage. I can finally start using a C&C again!!!

So glad my idea could help! I have been working on the design since summer as I too have a digger pig! Plus a crappy apartment washer and dryer so I needed something that would be stiff and solid but come apart completely to wash!

I agree, this is a great idea. We will be getting our very first guinea pig soon and this may be the way we go instead of flippers.

It's such a good idea.
Just a quick question, with your peeing boys, what absorbent material do you use under the blankets?
Someone mentioned puppy pads under fleece, advice?

:)

If you search the forums and photo galleries, you see that people use a variety of things. Some that I have seen include U-haul pads, mattress pads, puppy pads, and towels. Personally, I would recommend U-haul pads. They seem to keep the smell down and absorb the most urine.

Thank you @Onetwo !!!!
I finally got more coro and made one of these for my new cage and it's awesome!! No more digging!
I didn't get it as snug as I wanted so I need to make another one but it still works wonderfully with sweeping and looking neat. :)

Thank you for posting for all of us to benefit from.

I don't think there would be a problem, as long as it was sturdy enough to clip the fleece through. The pigs wouldn't be sitting directly on it.

I just finished my liners yesterday, they're amazing and my pigs love them. They make the hard to reach areas much easier to clean. This should be a sticky thread. Thanks for the awesome idea! I knew I wanted fleece, because I'm allergic to dusty wood shavings and carefresh, but my sewing skills are lacking.

They're working great for the base of my cage, the 2x7 which I change about once a month. The pigs never pee down there, it's always dry. and clean.

I'm still desperate for a solution for my 2x3 kitchen though.

How much fleece per section with some to fold over? I found some sport themed fleece of Texas Ranger would love to have for my herd. Though for some reason I can't find the binder clips at walmart Target even office depot i'm a lost cause hehe. (broken link removed) would this work?

Well my coro is a different size than everyone else because my cage is a 3x6 that is divided so your fleece will depend too! Just measure the inside of your base. Most fleece is 58-62 inches wide so I'd make sections either that wide or that long or HALF that size for maximum usage of the fleece. My sections are about 6 inches smaller width wise than a 2x3 So I cut the fleece 30 inches for the 3 grids width. That way I can get 2 cage changes out of 5 yards. (I think it was 5 yards) IDK its been a while since I cut fleece! LOL

That is REALLY weird that you can't find them! Are you looking by the paper clips? I missed them the first few times at walmart too! They tend to be in small boxes with no pictures.(broken link removed) Here's what they look like...
