Fur Rare guinea pigs

Have you separated mom and dad? She can get pregnant again right after giving birth. Back to back pregnancies are very hard on guinea pigs.

The male babies should also be separated from females at three weeks old to prevent them from getting their mom or sisters pregnant.


I currently have 2 silver/grey guinea pigs. Both a slightly different shade of grey.

yes I have separated all the males from the females, pups are 4weeks old now, I'll see if I can get a decent picture

Grey/Silver pigs really aren't that rare. It's just a coat marking. I had a silver/white one at one time. Silver agouti is one kind as well. There are many varieties.

Aw, he's so adorable! I've never owned a silver guinea pig, but I've always thought they're gorgeous. You don't see them near as often as the more typical colors, but I don't think they're extremely rare.

Your boy's color/pattern is silver agouti, with maybe a little Fox pattern as well... and his breed is a White Crested mix! That's where his cute white hairdo on his head comes from
