Hi there,
I just moved to a smaller town (still a population of 90,000)from a larger centre in British Columbia, Canada. Since I've been here I've notice that there are no resources for small animals let alone guinea pigs. All the surrenders get taken back to Petsmart or Petland.
I have quite a few years experience with GP's and a background in veterinary medicine. I have been contemplating starting a guinea pig rescue/shelter. I tried to just be a source of education, but people aren't interested in listening.
There are so many for sale on classified type sites like Kijiji and Craigslist. And in their pictures these pigs need to find new homes ASAP, but people are reluctant to let them go without money.
Any thoughts would be extremely helpful.
