Sarabi is a cardboard ADDICT! Is it OK for her to chew and eat the cardboard? Its crazy, because she never goes potty in the cardboard. These are the cardboard boxes that were in the cage. The blue/white box was 2 inches bigger on each side, and the red/orange box was given yesterday, but it is the same height as the little elf. She is the only one chewing it though, Pumpkin doesn't like cardboard and Nala only nibbles the coroplast a tad bit. I'm scared that the ink will be harmful. She hasn't been acting any different either.

If I had one that ate that much cardboard, I'd buy her a Chube -- they're guaranteed safe to ingest.

What is a Chube? Would fruit tree like apple branch distract her from the cardboard?

Metal in ink has pretty much been eliminated and banned from use in the U.S. China is an exception. Most inks are now soy or corn syrup based and probably pose little risk. If I had a guinea pig that ate that much cardboard, though, I wouldn't even put it in their cage. Buy something specifically made for guinea pigs to chew on.

Google is your friend, folks. Try looking for "pet chube" without the quotes.

If they're biting on it that much, I would definitely suggest taking it out of the cage.

Question, is there unlimited hay available to them? If so, is Sarabi eating much of it?
If she's chewing on cardboard and NOT hay, that could be an issue.

Hm, I guess she's just a special case, haha. I do think you should keep her away from it though. If she's chewing that much, it could harm her insides.

Timothy (broken link removed) are great. Adi LOVES chewing on them. She is currently working on destroying her second one.

They are 100% edible and serve as a hiding spot, too.

@T1ggerPigLuvur, they have one of those too. Sarabi is always laying in that, but she prefers to still chew the cardboard. I still took the cardboard out.

Okay. Some pigs love to actually chew the tunnel, like Adi, but others seem to not be interested in chewing on it, like my Tigger.

In your case, I would definitely would recommend a chube for Sarabi. Then she can eat cardboard, just in a safe way. They sell them here on Amazon. (Just don't give them the bedding material.)

A chube looks like a cardboard tube, but it's made out of vegetable pulp, so it can be eaten.
It took my girls about two weeks to figure out they could eat it, but they have been going to town ever since!!

Daisy used to chew on cardboard, but ever since I got them more/better chew toys, she doesn't do that anymore.
My girls' favourite chews are apple sticks and pinecones.

Pine Cones
Pine cones don't have the pine bedding risk, but they should be sterilized first. Bake first to sterilize at approximately 200° for 20-30 minutes on foil to catch any sap drippings. These might be a favorite.
