Hello everyone,
I'm new here, and I would love some advice from those of you who are more knowledgeable. I have been getting bad bites/rashes on my arms. It seems to happen after I handle my piggies. Picture is attached.

Could it be some kind of mite or parasite? The pigs seem perfectly healthy, no scratching or hair loss, but I've been getting these bites all over my arms. Has anyone ever experienced this?

Thanks!

What type of hay are you feeding them? It looks live hives to me.

I feed them Carefresh Timothy hay. I also have a few of those on my waist area.
Thanks for your input!

Try switching to orchard grass.

I agree. It looks like hives. And you're far more likely to be allergic to the hay than to the guinea pigs.

You can test the orchard grass by buying a small bag of it and rubbing it on your arm somewhere that you don't already have hives. If you don't react, you're probably not allergic to it.

If you do switch to orchard grass, you'll need to clean the cage and everything in it, and also bathe the pigs to get rid of the timothy dust.

Thank you for your advice!
That's so odd, I've used Timothy hay for the past year add it's been completely fine. Did the allergy just appear overnight?

Sometimes repeated exposures can cause an allergy to form so it's entirely possible that you weren't allergic before but have now developed an allergy.
