  1. General: Why do Guinea Pigs like brownies so much?

Whenever we make brownies, Lucy and Penny wheek. They wheek when the brownies get pulled out of the oven, get cut, etc. It must smell really tasty...

To be clear, we don't feed them brownies.

    Keeping Warm: Self Warming Pads

My wife and I saw these self warming pads online. However, the reviews I'm seeing for them all seem to be for cats and dogs - not guinea pigs. For context, we were considering the 14"x22" pad. We...

Photos: Re: Christmas gifts for piggies!

    Guinea pigs do love hay...

We got Penny and Lucy a new twig hideout and a twig ball. They've disassembled a lot of their old hideout and deconstructed the old ball months ago.

    Cleaning: Re: Handheld vacuum

We use a full sized vacuum's top hose with the brush attachment. If we had a hand vacuum I could see us using that instead.

    Cleaning: Re: Handheld vacuum

We wear gloves to pick up the big pieces and use a lint roller twice a day. We save the vacuum for the full cage cleaning with the girls out of the cage.

Vet: Re: Going to the vet...water?

I would suggest at least having a water bottle and hay if nothing else. You could always be delayed.

Nutrition: Re: Piggie Won't Stop Screaming for Food!

While 1/8 cup is the recommended, wouldn't that actually be cutting back on the pellets?

It sounds like you've been trying a few different ideas already. Does anything else happen around 4pm such...

Behavior: Re: New guinea pig owner

Stealing food from each other is normal. That's actually how one of our girls got to like a larger variety of veggies. Food in another guinea pig's mouth must be tasty, right? Sometimes it seems like...

Size: Re: Height of C&C cage

Also consider what shape c&c cage you're planning - you don't want it sticking out even if its short enough to fit under.

As mentioned above, the inspector still might find them. Is this a part of...
  14. Bonding: Re: nothing brings piggies together like...fear

So cute in their tube! We have something similar for floor time. If the evil vacuum scares them (hit or miss) they practically climb over each other in there.

    Hiding: Re: Fleece Burrowing!!!

Binder clips usually are a good idea I think... In our case binder clips didn't work due to different heights between the grid bars and the coroplast. If the clips aren't working, try clothespins or...

Behavior: Re: Poop in food and eating

Oh okay, good to know. I certainly never see any that look green. Usually the only smell is a after they eat bell peppers.

Behavior: Re: Poop in food and eating

It's normal to have moist poop. Our girls do all the time. If I recall correctly, that's the poop they tend to eat (more nutritious?).
  18. Fleece: Re: What type of "litter" to use in litter box in a fleece lined cage

We use carefresh in our fleece lined cage. We can pick up any pieces and then we lint roll it to pick up any hair and tiny pieces. The downside is that it's expensive. So while it works, I think...

Play: Re: Are willow twigs safe for guinea pigs?

We have either that twig tunnel or something extremely similar. Both the girls enjoy hiding in it and chewing it. They've destroyed some of one side, but it's surviving the punishment. We've had it...
