  1. Lethargy: Re: Guinea pig with arthritis, loss of appetite and play mate

If he is not eating enough you will have to force feed. Do you have Critical Care and syringes? You can also use pellets mushed up with water but he has to keep food moving through his system. Is he...

Upper Levels: Re: Need help with ideas for guinea pig loft

An even better idea is a loft that is no more than 6” high so they don’t need a ramp. Taller ramps are sometimes dangerous since guinea pigs can get easily injured from falls. And they don’t really...

Fleece: Re: Middles for DIY liners

I use the washable incontinence pads and throw a separate fleece layer over them. They don’t need to be sewn together and everything washes better when separate.

    Also, check your washing machine...

Fleece: Re: Middles for DIY liners

Another option is microfiber towels. They’re lighter weight but still absorbent and they dry faster than cotton terry towels.
  5. Frustrated: Re: My piggies still don't seem to get used to me!

Many guinea pigs are jumpy and hide when approached. They are prey animals and always expect to be attacked. However, they usually warm up a bit if you use veggies and talkto them. Call them by name...

Fresh Food: Re: Best ways to keep veggies/etc fresh?

I buy the small artisan lettuces and red or green leaf and keep it for two weeks. I put a paper towel in the bottom of a covered container and put the whole heads in there without washing. As I use...

Not Eating: Re: Scooter's medical thread

I open this will be a new start for Scooter. I don’t suppose there is anything else that can help his jaw, like warm compresses and massaging the joints.

Hay: Re: Oxbow vs. Small Pet Select

I order Oxbow from Chewy and only had one incident of hay that wasn’t the quality I expected. I usually order 90 ounce bags, but I ordered the next size up. It was less expensive, but the hay was...

It was pretty hilarious since the Hotel Inspector was one of the people dining there, and everyone was scrambling to find the missing “hamster.”

Cage: Re: Let's see your cage Pictures please.

Fareasthobby: While the cage sizes are helpful, the bottom picture is a problem. Guinea pigs should never be on wire or mesh floors, only solid floors and a soft surface. They easily get infections...

  19. Cleaning: Re: How Often To clean the cage and What products to use?

Until you get weepads, you can use a kitchen towel topped with a piece of fleece or those soft polishing cloths used for cars. Dollar Tree sells some super soft ones that wash well.

  25. Fleece: Re: DIY Fleece Beds, Hideys, Tunnels, Sleepies Etc
