Nails/Nail Trimming: Re: How To Cut Nails?

We use a regular nail clipper, when we took Checkers to the vet he used a regular nail clipper as well. One trick we found that worked is a flashlight with a red light will illuminate the the quick....
  6. Behavior: Re: Need tips on how to groom and gain trust with Peruvian guinea pigs

I agree with spy9doc. Don't let the piggy make the rules, otherwise nothing will change. Pick her up, play with her give her a treat while playing and when you put her back. She'll get the idea. They...

    Weight: Re: Underweight Guinea Pig

Nothing jumps out as to what the problem is. It may be time for a trip back to the vet.
  8. Play: Re: What are some interesting floor time activities that will keep Guinea Pig excited

Ours love just running around and exploring. They popcorn like crazy. Word of advice keep them away from the Peace Lilly, no matter how yummy it looks.
  9. Adopting: Re: Anyone Adopt of Buy Guinea Pigs from PetCo or PetSmart?

Our two came from PetSmart. Had them before we found this forum. Both where well cared for and in good health and adapted to us quickly. Checkers was about a year old and Ginger was only a few months...

    Lump: Checkers lump on foot

Hope some one can help identify what this is. We notice a small bump on Checkers leg back in October. It has since gotten bigger and looks like this now. It does not seem to be causing her any issues....

    Re: Air purifier

What do you consider moderate price? I posted one awhile back that worked for my wife even with the hay. It was in the 200 - 300 range. But it works. This is a hepa filter and it stopped my wife's...

    Ginger comes clean

Looks like out piggys are at it again, Caught Ginger at the key board typing away. Since they are the piggys who must be obeyed, I posted her discourse.

Not Eating: Re: Scooter's medical thread

You might want to try a water bowl. Our tow refuse to do the bottle even though that's all they had in the store. We have a bottle in the cage but we just keep cleaning it and refilling it never...

Not Eating: Re: Bella Rose hasn't eaten much at all

Good to hear. Piggys are very adept at eliciting that response from their human.
  18. General: Re: What are you guys getting your pigs for xmas?

Just put in a order with Guinea Pig Market for 2 cozy's and pee pads, one fleece and two narrow loft fleeces. Only problem I had is I liked the space example pic but could not find it in the choices.
  19. Frustrated: Re: Refused by rescue because my cage has a second floor

I'll second or third what was said here. Apparently this rescue's knowledge of piggys is sorely lacking. No, they are not as agile as rats but don't jump or climb? I don't think so. Ours with no...

Say What?: Re: Guinea pigs wont be quiet!!!

Ours complain loudly and often when they want something. (They usually always want something, where do they put it all) If my daughter fills their water and hay and gives them a treat they usually...
  22. Re: Pet shop thief throws stolen guinea pig out of moving car - KRON4

Saw this on a news feed. It takes a certain type of lowlife to do that to a defenseless animal. Hope they throw the book at them.
  23. Rescues: Re: Banning water bottles and favoring water bowls?

I had the opposite problem with Ginger and Checkers. Both came as a pair from Petsmart and had water bottle only in the store. We go them to their new home and used water bottles, several so they...

Keep an eye on them for sure, it could be that the volume is less due to your loss of a piggy. Sorry to hear that.

    General: Re: Keeping pig warm

I would set up the cage the way folks with reptiles do it. One side of the cage is kept warm with either a heating pad or light and the other is cooler so they can adjust to what suits them.
