    General: Re: Bailey's rescue thread

Okay, I didn't know that. I'll see about getting some chlorhexidine, then.

I'm soaking twice a day, for around five minutes at a time.

    General: Re: Bailey's rescue thread

I thought the chlorhexidine did the same thing as the epsom salt? At least that's what I gathered from previous responses? Since I had the epsom salt on hand, I'm not sure why I would need to use the...

Yeah, I feel so bad for her -- but honestly, you would never know by her temperament! She's so upbeat and snuggly all the time <3

Hey everyone, not so great news this time around.

We've been fighting the infection still, even after all this time. I got a refill on the antibiotic, but it seems like every time we try an...

Yeah, I sure hope it gets better with this round of treatment. My wallet is not happy with all these vet bills :(

I don't think I can use the chlorhexidine soaks -- I can't drive myself anywhere,...

Appointment over! They prescribed some Flagyl for the infection, which is apparently a stronger antibiotic that should help even when the Baytril stopped helping. And it's strawberry flavored. Nice....

We're en route to the vet appointment right now. Wish us luck! I'm glad I was able to get one scheduled, the foot seems to be getting worse :(

Thank you lisa325! I'm a bit disappointed at the...

I've been soaking with Epsom salt, but I don't think it's helping anymore. The antibiotic didn't seem to do much the second time around either.

piggymommy89 Yeah, I know. I've done lots of research on the topic and I've discovered that many of the translations people use to justify their bigotry are mistranslated and outdated, so they may...

    Re: Hello! about my girls!

About the burrowing: I'd highly recommend trying to just tuck or clip it first to make sure the situation will work with your pigs, before sewing or doing anything permanent. That may fix your...

Good news! I talked to the vet, and they went ahead and gave me another script for Baytril. Looks like I have another week's worth -- giving her another whole week of antibiotic won't make her sick...

Cleaning: Re: How often do you spot clean your cage?

Once a day. I'm a major germaphobe, and I wouldn't be able to stand cleaning the cage and then having to go about my day without showering.

I clean right before I go get a shower each night. When...

If you can, yes! Following all the precautions listed above and remembering to introduce slowly, of course.

Do you have any leftover grids/closet shelving? You could ziptie a corral for them so you don't have to worry about them getting under things.

  21. General: Re: What are your thoughts on Guinea Pig Clothing?

    My thoughts:

    - Okay to use if you're supervising
    - Not okay to leave unattended
    - Not a substitute for heat
    - Not okay to have lots of strings
    - Not okay to use if it's tight/difficult to get...

Say What?: Re: Piggies losing their voices

I don't blame her for it. I just jokingly refer to it as "revenge pee" 'cause that's what it seems like. It isn't a huge deal to me, honestly. Thank you for the tips, though!

Say What?: Re: Piggies losing their voices

Say What?: Piggies losing their voices

This isn't a medical concern or anything, just something I've noticed for the amount of time I've had my piggies. I'm curious as to whether anyone else has a similar experience.

    I started off with...
