Sick: Re: Chico and Amigo's med thread

Amigo is going to back to chew a particular spot of the coroplast, so I put a binder clip over that...and he nibbles on it for a bit and stop. Driving me crazy. Chico is the bar chewer, and now Amigo...

Here's both of the dumbdumbs resting together today. I can't get over how much better Chico looks compared to his shelter pic. You really can't tell it's him.

    Amigo hasn't been chewing the...

    Sick: Re: Penicillin G Injections

Don't be afraid to call the vet and tell them he isn't doing as well. The vet may be able to tell you more/give suggestions.

If i haven't said it before, he'll be totally fine with one eye. Little...

Sick: Re: Chico and Amigo's med thread

I truly believe he and Chico chews on stuff just to drive me insane. He is only chewing the side of the cage that faces towards me (the other side faces a window), in certain spots. I have a lot of...

Sick: Re: Chico and Amigo's med thread

Amigo is being a butthole and suddenly doing nothing but chewing the coroplast. Can this hurt him and how do I make him stop?
  6. Introductions: Re: Quick Introductions (After Death of Cagemate)

It's best to have a vet established for the pig in case anything else happens. They need yearly check ups like cats/dogs, so even if you just have the vet so a wellness check, you're getting...

Diet: Re: Thinner Poops (Concerning or Paranoid?)

I give my boys the Benebac in a tube. Our vet has given us powder probiotic to sprinkle on food also, but the gel Benebac is easier for us. It depends if they willingly eat the Benebac. Two boys love...

Diet: Re: Thinner Poops (Concerning or Paranoid?)

The pointy end of the top one could be from some sort of gut issues. The size is fine but be wary of the point. Some probiotics can help.

Eyes: Re: Little Bear's ouchie eye

Not much of a change in the stuffy nose/sneezing area for L Bear.

I did notice tonight when I was giving meds and petting him (which he rumbles about and probably hates)...his fur is a lot softer...
  10. Re: A chorus of squeaks, squeals with the 'guinea pig girl' - Denton Record Chronicle

Just getting calls about pigs at where I work is enough to wear me out. But at least when the rescue takes in a pig, they get to change its life.

I know they get really backed up and full. They...

This is where I got GIMBLY!!! And also who I originally contacted when I took in Bruin and Little Bear. I think the girl in the article is the one who introduced me to Gimbly and/or helped w/ the...

Also, don't use the water additives or the treats with dairy. Both are bad for piggies!

    General: Re: Vitamin C?

Just give them the Oxbow vitamin c cookies. I haven't had a pig reject them. I give one a day or two if they're ill. I have no idea if doubling while sick works, but it makes me feel better and it...

    Re: Nice to meet everyone

If he wants his own pig, see if he'd like his own pair instead! You can set up 2 cages on a folding table if you don't have much space - I have a folding table with my 2x5 on top and a 2x4 on the...

    UTI: Re: Rosemary's med thread

I would still see a doctor to establish care. She will get ill again. We don't know when or from what, but when it happens at least you will have a vet you can go to.

    Re: Nice to meet everyone

Please don't get a third boar. Read up on it, it is basically a perfect plan to ruin existing boar bonds, create more fighting, and in the end you will have 2 boars and a lone boar, or all 3 boars...

Doing CC once a day. All the pigs like it. The vet gave us anise flavor. I like Emeraid's consistency better but CC is easier to keep in a more solid form.

Sick: Re: Chico and Amigo's med thread

I should make an appt to have them checked it at our 'cheaper' exotic vet instead of their regular vet which is $105 for an exam, per pet...Chico and Amigo have been to the vet probably 4 times since...

    UTI: Re: Rosemary's med thread

You're going to have to call any vet that may take pigs based on what you see online. Ask you sister if she is willing to drive to a different town if you find a vet there.
