    Loss: Re: Really sweet experience

That is so very sweet. And heartbreaking. It just never gets easier when you've lost one. Next month, Pooper will have been gone four years and I still think about him every day.

    Loss: Re: Really sweet experience

My boys, whom I lost both of this past year, are also in cedar latch boxes. Once all the crap surrounding COVID 19 eases up, I plan on having a custom granite urn made for the both of them, and I...

    Re: Hello from JaneDoe

Welcome to the forum! Cute piggies!
  4. Eyes: Re: Unusual white spots in eye, vet doesn't know what they are.

You should find a clinic with a dedicated exotic vet. Being a small animal vet does not qualify them to treat guinea pigs, and traditional methods for other animals can be dangerous and even fatal...
  5. Eyes: Re: Unusual white spots in eye, vet doesn't know what they are.

Yep, ditto bpatters. My little man Sly had this. Started when he was roughly four and progressed from there to the point where most of the coloured part of his eye was covered. It DID seem to...

Conditions: Re: Bianka Bella medical concerns thread

    Such a little cutie!
  7. Possibly Pregnant: Re: Is my guinea pig pregnant or is she gaining weight/growing??

That picture is how Coco currently looks like. She gained a lot of weight over the past couple of days. I can also hear baby's / babies' teeth gnashing now, so I'm guessing she's going to have them...

She is most definitely a pretty little thing....... But she has trouble written all over that sweet, innocent looking face!

    Sneezing: Re: Simon's Medical Thread.

Update for my little walking toupee:

We are two weeks now post antibiotics. The first week off the meds was rough. He had some pretty nasty tummy issues, alternating between doing fine and then...
  10. Coughing: Re: Help Needed - Male cavy making ODD new sound - Has anyone heard this?

I'm not entirely certain, but it sure sounds like that was a pretty big fart. Keep an eye on him for bloat, and make sure you have infant gas drops (Ovol) on hand just in case.

    Re: Rest Easy Sweet Boy

I'm so sorry you lost little Leo, scoottie. It hits home for me because I have a little Leo with similar colours.

Sometimes, we'll just never know what happens. Knowing never seems to bring...

Diet: Re: Guinea pig drinking A LOT of water

The bottles have a fill line on them, and the reason for this is because if you fill it right to the top, it can cause what's called "hydro-lock".

What this means, is that even though the bottle...

    Sneezing: Re: Simon's Medical Thread.

    Update for Simon:

Simon is a different pig today. In a positive way.

In the three months I've had him, I have never, ever seen him this active. He has had some short naps today, but other than...

    Re: Durian's med thread

peanny77, I am so, so sorry. You put everything you had into making him well and giving him the absolute best start in life he could have.

Durian didn't have the best start and in truth,...

    Sneezing: Re: Simon's Medical Thread.

    Update for Simon:

We are on day 6 of the azithromycin. The day before yesterday, I was a little concerned because his weight had slid backward, to about 945 grams. He was eating a little at about...

Chewing: Re: Prevent Chewing on Cage Bars

I would go with the plexiglass, but maybe only halfway up. You also need to consider that chewing the bars can, and has in the past (including my own pigs) cause damage to their teeth. It doesn't...

    Re: Durian's med thread

Yes. In order to get an accurate weight, weigh them all first thing in the morning before you've given them any treats or anything.

  22. Re: They've bonded but are the arguing? Literally no clue whats going on lol

Sounds like perfectly normal everyday behaviour to me. Unless there is outright bloodshed, everything is usually just fine. Rumblestrutting as it's called, is absolutely normal behaviour.

    Re: Durian's med thread

Each pup will gain individually, some quicker than others. I had two pups where one was at least 100 grams heavier than the other and gained much more rapidly than his brother and they too were...

    Re: Durian's med thread

Only gaining a few grams isn't optimal, but gaining is always better than losing. As long as his weight is going in the right direction, there's no need to worry about it.

    Re: Durian's med thread

Whatever it is, the work you've put into his recovery is admirable. He's doing much better because of your care and there is nothing confusing about that.
