If his igloo is his most used hidey in his cage I would take it out. Instead of hideys, place tunnels and bridges around the area. Also you can leave little pieces of his favourite veggies around the...

Re: Hello! Getting piggies very soon.

Kiara looks like a Texel - her hair will grow very long and need lots of brushing and trimming when she gets older.
There are so many unwanted guinea pigs out there, I would see if there are any...

    Re: Appearence on TV

I would definitely tell them about popcorning as one of the facts - something along the lines of: when guinea pigs are very happy and excited they will do little jumps called popcorning.
    As another...

    Fresh Food: Watermelon

Can guinea pigs eat the outer skin of watermelon as well as the inside? I know it shouldn't be fed very often.

What can I use to clean the ears out beside mineral oil?
  8. Re: New to piggie ownership and have a few questions/concerns!

First of all, that's really great you could give those pigs a better home instead of buying some from a pet store! I hope your piggies bring you lots of joy :)

Re: What age to get neutered?

Most vets will wait until about 4-5 months old but if you want to you can find another vet who will do it sooner. You must make sure the vet has a high success rate in neutering rabbits. The...

    Rabbits and Fleece...?

Do rabbits get on with fleece or not? Do they dig at it and wreck it? Is it best to use traditional bedding?

Videos: Re: Photo Request For Cage Video

Here is the video. It is finally up :D The audio was not the best (my mic isn't that good) and I sounded a little weird but I think it turned out okay :) I'd appreciate you giving it a thumbs up if...

Re: I Bid You All Goodbye

That was a very mature decision you made, well done for putting your pet first. You never know, maybe if your piggie starts becoming depressed you can ask your parents again to rehome her.

    Not...

Injury: Re: Scabs on the upper lips?

Cut down the fruit and see what happens, hopefully this will sort out the issue. If your guinea pig bites the other pig's lip in the fight then yes, the lips can bleed and scab. However if you don't...
  17. Pellets: Re: Timothy hay ONLY pellets- Too good to be true??

This is alfalfa based so no good for pigs over 5/6 months old.

    Re: Owning a Pet store

I think that having animals in the store for your non profit rescue is a good idea as it will draw people in - and taking the animals from a kill shelter is a really good idea.

  19. Introductions: Re: Can male fixed guinea pigs be put with females?

Males don't rarely survive neuters, but you have to find a good veterinarian who has had many successful guinea pig neuters for a good chance that they will make it.

Cage: Re: I don't know what to make? Ideas?

    He's so cute :)

Neutering does not change the behaviour of guinea pigs I believe, it just stops them from being able to breed. I think your main problem is cage size - 2 grids is a better width....

Injury: Re: Scabs on the upper lips?

This can sometimes happen if a guinea pig eats too much acidic fruit like oranges. Fruit should be kept to a twice weekly treat.
Do you know if your pigs get on very well? One could have bit or...
