  2. Introductions: Re: Can I introduce a bonded pair of guinea pigs to a solo guinea pig?

You can introduce a singleton to a group of pigs, whether just two more or a whole bunch. But I think it usually takes much longer than introducing two singletons. It needs to be done in an...

Aggression: Re: Im completely lost with my guinea pigs

Your cage isn't large enough for one pig, never mind three, still less three boars. Three boars need a minimum of 10-12 square feet, and more is better. You've got less than 6 square feet.

    Also,...

Hair Loss: Re: Mental Issues? Is it possible?

I'd think that whatever is causing the hair loss might also be causing the behavior. I wouldn't worry too much about the behavior until the skin clears up. If it persists then, at least you'll know...

Hair Loss: Re: Mental Issues? Is it possible?

He's not doing that to himself. He can't reach that part of his back.

I'd assume fungal infection, and start with treatment for that. See http://www.guinealynx.info/fungus.html for more info.

Genitals: Re: Help determining gender of piggie

The second picture is too fuzzy to tell anything about it. The first one looks male, but it would really be good if you could post clear, well-lit, close up pictures so we could see better.

Is she really drinking, or is she just playing with the water bottle?

And is she burying her food with her paws, or just dropping it out of her mouth.

What kind of hay were you using? And what...

Teeth: Re: Piggie teeth keep overgrowing

I think your best bet would be to take your pig to an exotic vet in Milwaukee -- that seems to be the closest place to you that has exotic vets. He may have a jaw problem that's pulling his molars...
  16. Mites: Re: Suspect Mites: where to find ivermectin in Canada

DEFINITELY dilute it. And put it behind the ear rather than giving it orally.
  17. Bonding: Re: When to start bonding guinea pig who just lost their cage mate?

The pig has no concept of time, and will only know that she's alone. I'd do introduction as soon as possible. Just make sure the cage is completely cleaned and neither it nor anything in it,...

    Teeth: Re: Crooked front teeth

I looked for exotic vets around you, and unfortunately, the closest ones would be in Provo or SLC.

The big problem you've got is that "small animal" vets are trained in the care of cats and dogs,...

Possibly Pregnant: Re: Abby's medical thread

The thread answers your question about the syringe.

If you get too much on, you wipe it off.

You do nothing to the cage/toys/hay/whatever. Mites live on living things, not inanimate objects. ...

  24. Mites: Re: Suspect Mites: where to find ivermectin in Canada

They don't get mites from hay. As I recently said to someone else, every living thing in the world is covered in mites, including you and me. Sometimes there's an outbreak and you're aware of them,...

    Cage: Re: Outdoor cages/ hutches?

    We don't recommend it.

For one thing, there's no way to protect them from stinging/biting insects. For another, the temperature varies too widely to make it safe. In NC, it's far too hot in the...
