  1. General: Re: How to organize/store hay and wood shavings in bedroom

For me, I just keep the cardboard box that the hay comes in and I store it next to my guinea pig cage. I have quite a bit of space in the piggie room, so I know that this may not work for everybody....
  2. General: Re: I recently got a Guinea pig and Iím not sure if itís still scared or not.

A cage of that size is not good for even a single guinea pig. It may be ok for a short period, but for the long run you'll need to make a bigger cage that's at least 7 square feet (about 4ft long by...

Behavior: Re: Using The Loft As A Toilet

haha, my guinea pigs will poop everywhere and anywhere. I once had a foster piggy that would only poop in one corner. That was a very clean guinea pig. :)
  5. Behavior: Re: Pig is like catatonic. also not really eating

I agree with 4boipigs , If your guinea pig is not eating then it could lead to GI stasis. I recommend bringing your guinea pig to get checked out at the vet. Just make sure to find a vet that knows...

General: Re: New pig owner here , any advice

Hello! Welcome to the forum! One important tip that I can give is be prepared to clean ALOT. I don't know what bedding your using, but if you use fleece then I recommend investing in a mini vacuum....

Supplements: Re: How to use benebac powder.

Is Bella underweight? Whenever I get a foster animal that won't eat vegetables, I like to mix veggies with things that they like such as guinea pig pellets. Then I slowly wean them off and mix less...

    Cage: Re: Damp under fleece?

Maybe it could be the condensation from the pee/water in the cage. You could try putting paper towels or fleece under there to wick up the moisture.
  10. General: Re: My guinea pig upper front teeth kinda thick

I’m just looking at the picture, is that a bald spot on her chin? Also, I totally agree with Smileandnod , it could be a vitamin c deficiency.

    Behavior: Re: Don't laugh...behavior question.

I had a rabbit that used to do that as well. I called her my shoulder rabbit! :) If he likes to climb onto your shoulder willingly, then I would say that he probably just likes it up there. Sometimes...
  12. Treats: Re: Peckish Treat Dental 150g- Are they okay for guinea pigs?

You can also give guinea pigs fruits! My guinea pigs LOVE apples, I always give them a little slice each morning. :)

you can also bake safe guinea pig treats to help grind down their teeth. I just...

Adopt vs. Buy: Re: Impulse buyers, stupid questions, etc

Yes I totally understand. Just make sure that she knows how to care for them and that the piggies aren’t being totally neglected. Although I’m sure that you already have.
  14. Keeping Warm: Re: Keeping pigs warm during power outage

Maybe you could put extra blankets in their cage? This way they can burrow under them if they get cold. Do you have a basement? My basement is always much warmer when there’s a blackout. If it gets...

Adopt vs. Buy: Re: Impulse buyers, stupid questions, etc

I dislike when people say that too! It’s usually just that the piggies aren’t socialized enough, but people deem them “unfriendly”. Right now my local shelter is jam-packed with small animals. I just...

Water: Re: Clogged nozzles, part 2

Yeah, my guinea pigs favor one water bottle over the other too. Sometimes they’ll squabble over that one special water bottle when there’s another right next to them!

If you do end up buying the...

Water: Re: Clogged nozzles, part 2

Maybe its just the type of spout that your water bottles have. I been using these water bottles for years now and I've never had one clog up.

Maybe its the chewed hay that's clogging them up? You...

  21. Conditions: Re: Are my piggies' behaviours normal? I'm so worried.

Hello! And welcome to the guinea pig forum! First of all, you used cat litter? Make sure that it’s a natural and paper based litter instead of the clay based ones. While you can use cat litter, I...

  23. General: Re: Cedar rings against moths near guinea pigs?

Hmmm. Lavender is totally ok for guinea pigs. I’m pretty sure people feed them lavender for the calming affect, so I’m assuming that the lavender bags are safe for them.

    About the cedar rings....

Bonding: Re: Dogs and guinea pigs?
