Behavior: Re: A comfy pillow tent

What a great idea. Did you start out with a rectangular piece of fleece? I’d love to make one of those.

Shavings: Re: Got some Questions about shavings?

You can buy fleece fabric by the yard at a fabric store or online. Joann Fabric and Crafts almost always has it on sale. It is roughly 54” wide, so one yard would be 36” x 54.” I would suggest the...

Puppy Pads: Re: New to fleece.

I use washable incontinence bed pads for the absorbent layer under the fleece. They can be washed hundreds of times.
  4. Fleece: Re: What should I use for cleaning fleece bedding?

I don’t have any problem with the fleece and absorbent layers slipping. My setup is a little different since I have the cage sitting inside a frame-like base. The base is plywood with 2x2s around the...

Cleaning: Re: Absorbent Layer under fleece

I agree, nothing unsanitary about washing piggy blankets. If your washer has a setting for extra rinse maybe that would ease your mother’s mind.

As an absorbent layer, maybe washable incontinence...

She is adorable and looks like she has it made!

The photos post sideways because the forum software doesn't rotate photos right side up. Cell phones and tablets do that automatically, so no...

    Re: Shes here!

She will love being off the floor. When I moved Lacey up on top of the dog’s cage she really liked watching everything going on. She still doesn’t like being picked up but will only nip if she is in...
  9. Fleece: Re: What should I use for cleaning fleece bedding?

Layering without sewing should work fine. I use washable incontinence pads topped with a layer of fleece in my cage. I think the layers wash and dry better when they aren’t sewn together.

    Re: Shes here!

If she's eating well, wheeking, and running around her cage, that's a really good sign that she's feeling happy. And if she has a favorite veggie, I would feed that to her by hand through the cage...

    Water: Re: Best water bottles

I had good luck with a Living World bottle but dropped it and the neck broke. In a pinch I bought a blue Kaytee from the local humane society and it has worked well. I put a pot holder under the...

Bullying: Re: Dominant Pig picking on Non-Dominant

Good advice from Bpatters. I would also be sure to have water bottles and hay piles on opposite sides of the cage, and on the other side of a fleece barrier. Then one can’t see when the other one...
  13. URI: Re: URI, done with antibiotics, now not eating and tilting head, loss of balance

Steph, I’m so sorry for your loss. You did so much for her. It’s so good of you to take in two little ones and give them a home.

    Re: Shes here!

My opinion is to give her more time to adjust to you and your home. She’s young and probably wasn’t handled much. Guinea pigs are naturally fearful and it takes time for them to trust us.

    I...
  15. Fleece: Re: What should I use for cleaning fleece bedding?

I have used Arm & Hammer and Aldi’s Tandil detergents with no problems. They are both the regular scented detergents and I use half the recommended amount. We have soft water so a little goes a long...

    Dominance: Re: Territorial over food?

It probably wouldn’t hurt to have some kind of visual barrier so they can’t always see each other. So if you have a couple piles of hay, a fleece fringe between the two hay piles would give each pig...

Behavior: Re: Destructive Piggies - HELP!

It sounds like they need something to do. They are probably grabbing the water bottle and pulling it around causing it to drip.

  19. General: Re: Potty training / Spilling food / Shedding / Behavior

Another idea for food is a shallow coffee cup. Hang it on the side of the cage by the handle using a bent piece of wire or paper clip. I bought 2 at a thrift store and they work great. My guinea pig...

Grow Your Own: Re: Herb, flower and veggie garden

The holidays always bring memories of those who aren’t with us. You both have been through a lot this year and I hope the new year treats you better. Thank goodness for your new little ones.

  24. Fleece: Re: Sorry another fleece wont wick topic but Ive literally tried everything, please

This almost sounds like the high-end plush, luxe or micro fleece. It has a thick, luxurious texture and doesn’t pill or fade, but it doesn’t wick moisture well. I have some small pieces that I got as...

Fleece: Re: Handheld machine for fleece?
