    Bonding: Re: Craigslist Adoption Terrified

Mine doesn’t like to be held at an angle either, and she was a fairly social pig when I got her. It must be an awkward position because she just looks scared and holds still. Then when she has all...

Conditions: Re: Bianka Bella medical concerns thread

Are there any dietary changes that can be made now to help protect the kidneys?

Frustrated: Re: Found abandoned guinea pigs

If they eat lettuce you can rinse that and leave it really wet so they get more water. I used to lay the leaves in a shallow dish of water so mine had to pull it out of the water to eat it. Cucumbers...

Bedding: Re: How to stop burrowing under bedding?

Keep an eye on their health if they are burrowing into the pocket on the GuineaDads. One of the forum members had a pig with respiratory issues that took a while to figure out. It was from burrowing...

Conditions: Re: Bianka Bella medical concerns thread

So glad the labs came back looking good. And the insurance is certainly paying off! I hope the next labs are just as good.

    Nutrition: Re: Ca:P Ratio Confusion

Actually, I just avoid Romaine because it causes some pigs to have issues with stones. Mine doesn’t have any history with stones, but red and green lettuce is available so I just feed that. I use the...

So glad you were able to get them to the vet and help them out. Please keep us posted, I hope the little guy starts feeling better.

Frustrated: Re: Found abandoned guinea pigs

So good of you to take them in and give them a chance. Yes, I would start with vitamin C since they're probably malnourished and maybe dehydrated as well. Good luck with them!

Cage: Re: DO NOT buy these cages!

These cages are useful in emergency situations to transport your guinea pig to the vet or in an evacuation. They are not large enough for an every-day habitat, even if the guinea pig gets out for...

C&C: Re: Will I have to start taking over?

The 2x3 grid cage is about 7.5 square feet according to the product info. It is large enough for 2 but pretty much the minimum size. If you use fleece forests or drap some fleece over the corners for...
  11. Possibly Pregnant: Re: Is my guinea pig pregnant or is she gaining weight/growing??

Mine likes a fresh apple stick once in a while. If you know of anyone with an apple tree that isn’t sprayed maybe you could get few of the small branches. I cut them to about the length of a pencil...

General: Re: What to do about newly solitary cavy

I’m sorry you lost Oreo, my condolences.

I agree with Spy9doc about giving extra attention to Peanut Butter. Make sure he’s active and eating well. I would also look for things to keep him busy,...
  13. Behavior: Re: Guinea pig keeps biting “pigloo” at night

Mine loves to move her hideys in straight lines one in front of the other or parallel so she can run through them to escape any predators. It’s good to have 2 openings because they sometimes get...

Wheezing: Re: Respitory: Nash’s Medical Thread

When he makes the hooting sound does it end with a cough or sneeze? Hooting is sometimes associated with heart disease and sometimes accompanied by short rapid breathing or head bobbing while...
  15. Possibly Pregnant: Re: Is my guinea pig pregnant or is she gaining weight/growing??

I’m so sorry the pups didn’t make it, but at least Coco is okay. There really was nothing you could have done, it’s an unfortunate incident.

Vet Costs: Re: Nationwide Pet Insurance

I have never bought pet insurance but a local vet did offer kind of an HMO plan that included exams, office visits, and routine vaccinations. So that was nice when I just needed to have our dog seen....

    Eyes: Re: Eye issue

The rim of the eye looks swollen to me. I would contact a vet since swelling can be an infection.

General: Re: Separating bonded adult & babies for feeding?

I don't know where you live, acefebreze, but if there are still dandelions in your area, the leaves are an option for calcium and vitamin C. I'm in central MN and we still have dandelion greens here,...

    Bonding: Re: Craigslist Adoption Terrified

    Bonding: Re: Still bond?

If Bella can't help being insane due to ovarian cysts, why add Bianka to the hormonal mood swings? I would leave them separated and avoid the fights and screaming that are likely to take place.

Re: Mom to three little pigs [emoji16]

It's good to have so much room for your 3 guinea pigs. If they are getting along well, I don't know if I'd upset their relationships by adding more. There is always the risk of one or two not...

    URI: Re: Possible Uri?

I would provide these pictures to your vet and see what he thinks. Also, if there is any sneezing, rubbing the eyes, etc., a short video for the vet would be helpful in making a decision on treatment.

    Bonding: Re: Craigslist Adoption Terrified

I would separate them. It's obvious keeping them together is not working and the younger one is bullied and terrified. They need their own space and then you can work with them individually.
