    C&C: Re: Amazon c&c grids

I'm not sure what the grids with mesh are. But you want grids with 9X9 holes. The holes in the 7X7 grids are big enough that a pig can get his head trapped in them.

Pregnant: Re: Pelvic Bones, Pregnant GP, Labor?

Thank you so much for the update! We love to hear good news, and especially when ALL of it turns out good. No other problems for little Dumbo? Sooooooooo happy to hear!

Cage: Re: New and most popular hidey.

Ohhh, I know what you mean LittleSqueakers. Pooper had a Matchbox hot rod that he loved to carry around in his teeth with him. He was buried with that and Sly has his bell with him.
  4. Not Eating: Re: Not eating for 5 weeks, had 2 dentals

If she is on the Baytril she likely won't want to eat period. Recognizing that as the first problem is half of your battle. You WILL have to force feed her the Critical Care in order to keep enough...

Cage: Re: New and most popular hidey.

    Long and short? Nope :D

I learned awhile ago, with Poopy and Sly, that they much preferred simple things to expensive, over the top stuff. They like their pigloos, but they prefer plain old...

    Sick: Re: Elevated liver enzymes

It's always so devastating when we have to make those choices for our beloved little friends. I've said it before: They are so sweet and gentle they do NOT deserve to have medical issues like this. ...

Diet: Re: Advice on guinea pig diets!

Glad to hear all has gotten better, and very glad to hear they like yellow peppers. I was always under the understanding that red peppers had the most vitamin c but found research that shows yellow...

Conditions: Re: Wide spread toes on feet?

I'm sure he'll come around and get much more comfortable in his new surroundings, but if you're new to pigs do know that it can take a long time. It's nothing you're doing wrong, but pigs are prey...

Conditions: Re: Wide spread toes on feet?

He seems to be an older boy, and older pigs toes tend to curve like that. Both of my older boars feet have done that, and both boys I have now have wider set toes like that.

    Cute little man!
  12. Bullying: Re: 3 male Guinea Pigs now seperated. Can they be reintegrated?

    You're more than welcome!

Good luck with your new herd dynamics, and please keep us posted on how they're doing.
  13. Bullying: Re: 3 male Guinea Pigs now seperated. Can they be reintegrated?

Once they are separated, leave them that way. Otherwise it'll be no different than introducing them again and since it won't be neutral territory it will likely go badly.
  14. Bullying: Re: 3 male Guinea Pigs now seperated. Can they be reintegrated?

Just do bear in mind that you need at least a 2x4 grid sized cage for the two smaller fellas, and at least that again for the boss pig and his new buddy.
  15. Bullying: Re: 3 male Guinea Pigs now seperated. Can they be reintegrated?

I had a similar situation to yours. I had two boars, Pooper and Sly. They were never the best of buddies, but they tolerated each other and even played together from time to time.

    Pooper was a...
  16. Urine: Re: Different coloured wee?! Is it normal?

If the treat stick had any kind of dye or food colouring in it, it's very possible. I would monitor her and if it continues it could be a sign of a UTI.
  17. Urine: Re: Different coloured wee?! Is it normal?

My pigs have wee'd like that before...... but they've usually had something to eat that affects it. Something like a berry, or a small slice of watermelon.

What has she eaten recently? Anything...

Size: Re: How big should my cage be?

We really only recommend boars as pairs, and you'd end up with a single pig. I've even tried a boar trio myself, and as expected it failed miserably. I had two babies paired with a senior boar, and...

Size: Re: How big should my cage be?

Ohhh, they're not bonded. They're just about to hit puberty, and then the bomb drops.

If I were you, I'd start making preparations for multiple cages.

Diet: Re: Advice on guinea pig diets!

Putting ANYTHING in their water will make them not drink it. If you have Vitamin c drops, try putting them on the cucumber and see how that goes. Vitamin C is essential and either bell peppers or...
  21. Re: RIP Cricket and Squirrel (A cautionary post on pregnancy)

Thank you for posting this story. I have no doubt how painful it was for you.

Rest in peace, ladies. Cricket and Squirrel, and their little ones, are now at the Rainbow Bridge. They're all...

Injury: Re: Blue and red eye, on guinea pig

Sure looks like a hay poke to me. Yes, you should see an exotics vet ASAP. Eye injuries are very painful, and if left untreated he can lose the eye.

    Size: Re: C&C cage size

I'm not a good role model for building a C & C cage, at least cost wise. They are VERY simple to build, and require just a few basic tools. You can build them more complicated if you wish, and there...

    Size: Re: C&C cage size

The bare minimum for 2 boars is a 2 grid x 4 grid cage, more like a 2 grid x 5 grid. That equates to roughly 28 inches x 70 inches for a 2x5. Any smaller and you're risking grumpy piggies that don't...
