Behavior: Re: A comfy pillow tent

    Brilliant idea!
  3. Re: Goodnight Domino, Love you forever

You're in similar company. Pooper has been gone 3 years. Sly a year and a half, and Punkin only 3 months. Not a day goes by that I don't think of all of them in some capacity. And yes. I still...

    Re: She’s here!

If you weigh her, whatever she weighs now MIGHT give us a clue as to her approximate age. Just something I thought of while reading your last post. If she's under 6 months of age, Oxbow's young...
  5. Hay: Re: Hay allergy and wheezing. Pellets instead of hay?

You can try Orchard grass hay as an alternative. It's also much better for people who have hay allergies.

As far as the noise he's making, my suggestion would be to try and post a video here...

Bedding: Re: Is Lavender Scented Bedding Safe?

No. Do not use ANYTHING scented for your pigs. They are prone to upper respiratory infections and should be as scent free as possible.

    Re: She’s here!

You'll get the hang of it. Don't give up, we all had to start somewhere!
  8. Re: Goodnight Domino, Love you forever

It always pains me to hear someone has lost a piggie. It's especially hard when you know it's coming, and so unbelievably painful and difficult when you have to make that last decision.

    I could...

    Re: She’s here!

Scooter was never one to love being picked. Punkin didnt mind, and Leo still doesnt but hes improving. Punkin learned first during his illness and Scooter now also does this, because of the extreme...

    Re: She’s here!

I found hay racks are a waste of time. Every pig I've ever had just simply pulled out strands of hay until finding the one they want at that moment. I just pile hay in the corners now, adding a fresh...

    Re: She’s here!

You know what the best part of that is?

No matter how much they do it........ it never gets old. Ever.

Not Eating: Re: Scooter's medical thread

Looks like this is hopefully the final update for Scooter on this issue.

Scooter's weight is hovering between 1200-1250. He is a very active, happy boy again. He has not had any...

    Re: She’s here!

She's going to gain weight quick regardless. My boys when we first got them, gained weight at a rate of 50-100 grams per week. Not sure how much your girl is going to gain per week, but you should...

    Sick: Re: Pneumonia

I'm very happy that your girl is improving!

At this point I will add that due to Scooters' infection, the severity and location, he required 4 courses of azithromycin before we were ready to say...
  17. Re: Spots' Medical Thread, was Piggy of 1 year old biting me

Trimethoprim sulfate. Definitely watch his appetite on this medication. It's not as hard as, say, Baytril, but it DID affect all of my own pigs appetites. Scooter wouldn't eat at all on this...
  18. Re: Spots' Medical Thread, was Piggy of 1 year old biting me

It depends. It depends on the medicine and his weight, and whether or not he's eating and drinking normally. If he's not eating and drinking enough and his weight drops, you'll need to use the...

Please keep us updated on how he's doing!
  20. URI: Re: URI, done with antibiotics, now not eating and tilting head, loss of balance

I'm so sorry for your loss. I was hoping she would pull through.

It makes me happy that you found it in your heart to find a couple of little girls to give your love to. I'm sure they need it...
  21. Re: Spots' Medical Thread, was Piggy of 1 year old biting me

By all means keep an eye on him if you feel something is off. After all, no one knows your pig better than you. But the numbers I see tell me your pig is very stable.
  22. Re: Spots' Medical Thread, was Piggy of 1 year old biting me

So if I read correctly, and those numbers are in grams, hes lost roughly 50 grams since December 26th?

I have to say, those numbers are fairly typical of a stable pig. I wouldn't worry about it at...

    Re: She’s here!

8 ounces is a LOT of water. I don't think both of my boys put together drink that in a WEEK. Every pigs water consumption is different. I did find that when Sly was nearing a molar surgery, he would...

    Sick: Re: Pneumonia

A few days, if I remember correctly. The biggest difference I noted was that azithromycin didnt seem to affect his appetite. May not be the same for you.
