    Re: Adopting a guinea-pig

    Hiya,

I do home visits for the RSPCA in Manchester.

Basically, just make sure everything is clean and in order for when the home visitor gets there. It's not a test, just to see if your cage...
  2. Animal Welfare: Re: How to stop petstore purchases of all merchandise?

I'm from the UK and Pets at Home sounds just like America's Petco etc. They sell factory bred animals that are often missexed, sick or very young.

Some branches are better than others as...

Jollye's is pretty good, they do sell fish though.

    Re: question about cage

I think it depends on the size of your bunny. A baby or dwarf might be able to squeeze out. A adult, french lop etc would probably be okay.

    Re: My New Adopted Rabbit

There's nothing anti-social about that. She's not sure about you, nervous and doesn't trust you. It takes months to gain a true relationship with a rabbit. They are prey animals after all.

    Re: Just out of curiosity

Rabbits can jump and leap over a metre high! Just look at wild rabbits and how they frolic around - it's so distressing to see a rabbit locked in a tiny hutch

    Re: Ehr... Beta...?

Totally normal but you do need to curb this behaviour as it will annoy your doe and could start a fight.

When my buck gets a little 'excited' I gently press his head to the floor and cover his...

Look at these leaflets on diet (towards to bottom of the page):

Fruit is only a treat in small amounts once or twice a week - it's far too sugary...
  11. Re: Rabbits vs. Guinea Pigs...comparing the two pets

I wouldn't put them anywhere near eachother, contact through the bars can spread disease. Get your rabbit a friend of its own - the interaction is beautiful to watch. A human friend can never fully...
  12. Re: Rabbits vs. Guinea Pigs...comparing the two pets

They shouldn't mix with other rodents. However, often people have mixed them with cats and dogs successfully. Depends on their character. Dogs should never be left unattended with rabbits though,...
  13. Re: Rabbits vs. Guinea Pigs...comparing the two pets

Rabbits and piggies should not ever be allowed to share the same bowls or fleeces. They pass disease to eachother. Having them living together is completely wrong and is due to pet shops needing the...

C&C: Size of C&C for 5 sows and 1 boar?

    Hiya Guys,

Just wondering what size C&C cage I need for 5 sows and 1 boar? At The moment I have a 7 x 2 for 4 sows and 1 boar. Would the cage be far too small to add another sow?

    Thanks,

I have 5 piggies and 2 rabbits, all are in my flat.

  18. Re: Really want to foster a rabbit, have to convince parents first?

Neutering when she is old enough makes litter training very easy. Most teach themselves. What I would say about adult nethies is that people think little rabbit=small cage/space to run in. Actually...
  19. Re: Really want to foster a rabbit, have to convince parents first?

I agree that rabbits are very specialist and you really need to read up about them. Once you've done research and get into a routine they are very easy to care for.

They must be neutered, 80% of...

I got my Coroplast from a sign maker.

    Hope that helps....

That's great - I thought so but I got a bit confused. They never share any food bowls, bedding etc and are obviously never in contact with eachother physically.
