  1. Genitals: Re: My pig leaves brown stain on the floor and its genitals, i wonder if its diarrhea

First thing I would do is cut out all the fruits and veggies. Give him water, good quality pellets and good quality timothy hay as those are the most important staples of his diet. Timothy hay is...
  2. Genitals: Re: My pig leaves brown stain on the floor and its genitals, i wonder if its diarrhea

That sure looks like diarrhea to me. What do you feed him?
  3. Urine: Re: Spasms in guinea pig sides before peeing

Boogies needs a vet NOW. It sounds to me like he has a bladder stone, and it could also be a urinary tract infection. X-rays would be a good place to start.

Not Eating: Re: Friar Tuck's medical thread

Aw, man. I had some really high hopes. It sounds so, so much like Punkin and Scooter, they way their illness started. It REALLY sounds like something in his mouth is causing him pain. I hope very,...

Not Eating: Re: Friar Tuck's medical thread

SO glad to hear! I do have to wonder if it wasn't something like a hay poke in his gums or something along those lines. If that is what it was, I'm very happy that it didn't go along the same...

Not Eating: Re: Friar Tuck's medical thread

Glad to hear he's feeling a little better! I always loved opening the windows in the spring and watching their little noses go berserk, pointed skyward.

I would begin to worry about the Critical...
  7. Lethals: Re: 5 Month Old Male Charlie Blood from Nose

Firstly, let me say that I am so, so sorry for your loss. Losing a pig especially in that fashion is heartbreaking.

I have heard of this happening a few times, and although I don't have a...

    Diet: Re: Overweight sow

If she runs that's fantastic. I jokingly called Punkin, and now Leo, "Thumpy Bum" because when they run all you hear is ba-dump ba-dump ba-dump!

    Diet: Re: Overweight sow

And I'll add this as a relative comparison. Even though I had boars, my boys weights normally were as follows:

    Pooper - 1450 grams
    Sly - 1500 grams
    Punkin - 1600 grams
    Scooter - 1450...

    Diet: Re: Overweight sow

Both of your girls look perfectly healthy to me. An "overweight sow" is a relative term. They are herbivores, so it's pretty tough to get fat on hay and vegetables.

    Every pig is different. Some...

Not Eating: Re: Friar Tuck's medical thread

When Punkin and Scooter's issues started, Punkin was initially thought to have malocclusion, and he did. But it was CAUSED by an incisor infection. His tooth hurt, so he chewed on one side of his...
  13. Not Eating: Re: Fresh Dropping of Healthy Guinea Pig as a Probiotic

Mike221, I am so relieved to hear that. I was terribly worried about Misko, your last message left it very much up in the air. I hope both of your boys are up and well in no time! Keep us posted!

    Bonding: Re: Craigslist Adoption Terrified

Absolutely fantastic news, Rynn21 !!!! She just needed time, patience and a lot of love from her new family.

I'd love to hear updates on her from time to time, if you don't mind? We LOVE good...

Not Eating: Re: Friar Tuck's medical thread

Sigh. I'm not sure where to go with this.

Simon had a sinus infection and it was a stubborn one. 10 days of Baytril SEEMED to clear it up, but after 4 days off of it the symptoms came back worse...

Diet: Re: My guinea pig ate cooked rice!

She should be just fine, as long as she didn't eat a lot of it. Just make sure she has plenty of water and fresh hay, and obviously monitor her for any signs of trouble. I don't think you'll see any...

Re: My baby Scooter. I will miss you so.

My niece is the tattoo artist :) It makes it very special for me indeed, to have her do them for me. Scooter's pawprint wasn't able to be taken very well as it had been at least 14 or 15 hours after...

Not Eating: Re: Friar Tuck's medical thread

Typically I've only seen the behaviour with being excited about food but not eating it, associated with dental problems. I'm just not sure what the issue is with Friar Tuck.

    Baytril will...

Re: My baby Scooter. I will miss you so.

Thanks to COVID it's taken too long for this. But they're together again in another way now.

This one hurt like hell to have done. No idea why, but I suppose it's appropriate that it did.

    Hay: Re: Yellow hay

The Oxbow Orchard Grass hay that I've been getting is very green. Problem is that the bags aren't very big, so I buy a big bag of the Timothy and two small bags of the Orchard Grass and mix them...

Crusty Eyes: Re: Snickers' Medical Thread

You stated earlier in this thread that he is six years old, and that was in May. He's coming up on 7 then, correct? If he were mine, I'd stay with the metacam. If the CBD doesn't seem to be...

I used the Bene Bac in the syringe type, and it only dispensed 1 gram at a time minimum. Scooter got 1 gram after each dose of antibiotic.

Not Eating: Re: Friar Tuck's medical thread

The pink pee could definitely be indicative of a UTI. Not to scare you, but it could also indicate a bladder stone, though that would have shown up in his x-rays so I don't think it likely.

    Give...
