Bullying: Re: Pigs bullying each other?

This is very true, smileandnod! I guess I was leaning towards an Occam's razor type of explanation, but also hence why I said potentially something else hormonal. (I've personally had a piggy with...

Bullying: Re: Pigs bullying each other?

I don't think the cage pictured is a Midwest cage, bpatters, it appears to have a plastic base? I imagine it's a small medical cage (with the same coloured base as a Midwest) since Paisely is on her...

Newborn Pups: Re: Baby guinea pig won't open eyes

Is the bub a rex or teddy (that is, has curly hair)? It could be from entropion, which is when the eyelids sort of roll in and the hair rubs against the eye. It's not uncommon in pups with rexoid...
  4. Injury: Re: Guinea pig ear torn in half!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

Ouch, poor Smores. He will need to see a vet for antibiotics and pain relief like meloxicam. Ears are extremely sensitive and bleed like crazy when injured (as I'm sure you've noticed), but they...
  5. Re: I知 babysitting a rabbit and I have some questions

Rabbits usually like herbs (parsley, coriander, etc.) and Asian vegetables like bok choy, choy sum, etc. Celery leaves are popular too. Like piggies, rabbits are better with a hay-based pellet with...

    Photos: Re: Name Ideas

Harriet maybe? Trying to work out what name my brain is trying to come up with, ha. Or if you wanted to continue with the precious stone theme, her lovely eyes might suggest Garnet or Ruby.

    Oh,...

    Re: Abby and Betty's thread

You can use bird seed to grow various plants/seedlings/grasses! Millet is a type of grass and a large component of birdseed mixes here, sunflower sprouts (and fully grown leaves, too) are apparently...
  8. What breed?: Re: Please help me identify the sex of my pig!

That would be a very definite male piggy. :)

Diet: Re: Guinea pig drinking A LOT of water

Ohhh, I only just realised there was a separate thread. My apologies to the OP, that was an insensitive comment. I'm sorry about the loss of the pups.

Diet: Re: Guinea pig drinking A LOT of water

I was going to comment on this thread that I would nearly always suspect pregnancy in a newly acquired female piggy if she appears to be drinking a lot. It's one of the earlier signs of pregnancy.

What breed?: Re: What colour is this little boar?

Sorry, a bit late to the party.

What country or region you're in can alter what coat colours are known as (an example I can think of is red/orange/gold, which always confuses me). The dilute...

Reintroduction & a lot of written waffle.

Hello, hello, long time no post. I thought I would kindly reintroduce myself, also because I don't think I ever did an introduction post here previously, so, two pigs with one cuddle sack I guess......

    That's awesome. :)

I hope Almond is doing well too!
  16. Pregnant: Re: Pregnant guinea pig ultrasound video (a little bit cute)

Thanks everyone. :) They are a super-cute little family and Esm is being an amazing first (and last!) time mother.

    Born this morning. :)

Mum (Esm) weighs 435 grams now (!!! :( ) and the bubs were 104 grams and 114 grams. I'm shocked she's doing so well, considering.
  18. C&C: Re: Minimum C&C cage size for 4 female guinea pigs for 9 days.

That sounds like such a neat space for them! Whatever you decide that sounds like an amazing full-time set-up that they will be happy to go back to.

    I've kept six (!) pigs in a 4x2 space for a...
  19. C&C: Re: Minimum C&C cage size for 4 female guinea pigs for 9 days.

When I've moved house before (rental property shenanigans) I had to temporarily house pigs in a similar situation. I think as long as the pigs are well-bonded and compatible, temperament-wise, and...
  20. Conditions: Re: Moving Cross Country, Pig Status Declining

I would keep offering them wet veggies (cucumber, lettuce, etc.) because piggies rarely drink I find when travelling... usually they can stay hydrated through high water content veg though, you can...
  21. Conditions: Re: Moving Cross Country, Pig Status Declining

Hi, first of all this sounds like a really horrible, stressful situation and I'm sorry you, your girlfriend and the piggies have to work out a way to deal with it all.

    Is there anyway your...
  22. Pregnant: Pregnant guinea pig ultrasound video (a little bit cute)

    https://www.facebook.com/NewBeGUINEAings/videos/890740424651400/

I thought I would share this here, because a) it's adorable in a different way to most piggy videos b) it's fascinating and c) it's...

Conditions: Re: Uterine Tumor: What Would You Do?

Will the ovarian surgery just be a flank spay? Usually that's not quite as invasive.

It really does seem neverending sometimes. :( I hope Opal is feeling better at least. Poor little pig. It's a...

Conditions: Re: Uterine Tumor: What Would You Do?

Hi, sorry for the slow reply, how is she going today?

It really can vary and after such a big surgery it can take a couple of weeks. If you post a video (if you can) it might be easier to get a...
