Blog alfalfa hay for babies ?

is it okay to feed alfalfa hay until they are six months old. some sites say yes some say no it is too high in calcium and timothy is the safest:eek:hmy:

i found my answer they said it should not replace the timothy hay give it as a treat but keep timothy/grass hay always availably to my cavy. alfalfa hay is high in calcium and could cause stones it is given to pregnant guineas and babies so i will stick to the timothy hay.

Many people say a mix of timothy and alfalfa until about 6 months old, but after that alfalfa only as a rare treat.

yes, it's just not as high in calcium :)

my vet said that i should give them continous pellets after they are older
even after they are older. This site says different. I dont know
what to do.
