  1. Life, man.

Life has been so weird lately.

Near the end of June I had a pretty major surgery that involved staying in the hospital overnight. I had to take 2 weeks off work, and then the next 4 weeks I'll be working part-time, from home.

It's been difficult. Healing has been rough, and post-op insomnia has been absolutely awful.

    I'm so sleep-deprived.

But my piggies, my dogs, and my cats have all helped keep me sane. My dogs sleep with me at night and so does ...
  2. Week 5 Day 2.

Week 5 day 2 of working from home. I'm loving being able to be home with my animals. That's one of the best parts about this; also, I love being able to step outside and read on the porch, or do paperwork outside for work, or just go out and do yardwork during my lunch break. Or go out and pick dandelions for the pigs. Just all the little freedoms that are so lovely!

But I'm also just feeling it emotionally I think. I don't know. I've been really dragging emotionally. It feels darker ...
  3. Thinking about COVID-19.

This quarantine period has really forced me to slow down. It's really odd, honestly. I feel like, in a way, I'm returning to the 1960s or 1970s, where home life was much more of a thing. I mean, granted, my life has not been hugely disrupted by this pandemic... both me and my husband are still working, and we're a pretty boring, introverted couple, so our social life has not been affected really either. We used to go out to eat more and we used to have library reading dates, and that's literally ...
  4. Quarantine life

Oh man. I feel the need to laugh at myself, cuz here we are, week 4 day 4 of quarantine life, and I'm getting insanely excited over having a dustbuster.

    Let me explain.

So obviously I have 4 guinea pigs. They currently have what amounts to a 2x8 C&C cage plus a 2x2 loft, so about 24 square feet of space. I use fleece bedding on all but a small area (about 1x2 grids) that is their kitchen area, which has disposable bedding.

24 square feet means a lot of ...
  5. Oh man... it's a blog!

You know, back in the day I used to be a fanatic about LiveJournal. I posted every day, sometimes multiple times a day... but it was also a lot of emo ranting and raging because I was a teenager with a lot of stuff going on.

So hopefully anything I post here won't resemble that in the slightest. I don't really have any type of hankering to return to that life. I'm sure it also helps that I'm about twice as old now as I was back then... ya know, age makes a difference. Changes your perspective ...
