Hey there - just curious.

My first order of KM's hay was gloriously green and fresh. I was blown away. I had ordered the 9lbs of Timothy and 5lbs of Bluegrass. All good.

For my 2nd order, I just went with the 9lbs of Timothy 2nd because the girls seemed to actually devour that more than the Bluegrass [and next time I'm going to add in Bluegrass again to test the waters some more] - but here's the thing. My 2nd order was fresh smelling again, but it wasn't as all around green. There are some slightly brown strands [like you would see in Kaytee's Timothy bags]. NO signs of mold - that isn't my issue.

But I was just curious if anyone had this experience. I was just surprised to see it wasn't AS great as my first order. I still plan to order from KM - since overall I believe her stuff rocks. But....has this happened to anyone else? I mean it could be a change in weather/crops/harvest etc. And it's only my second order, so your experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I'm almost done with my second order of Bluegrass. I did notice it was slightly browner than my first order, but the pigs didn't seem to care. Each batch will be different, so it didn't bother me much.

As most hays are cut from May to late summer, the quality of each batch of hay may be different. It tends to turn a bit brownish the longer it sits.
