For anyone who has silkies or peruvians that they have had since baby-hood.... Do the longhaired breed babies come out with pretty long hair or does it look fairly short and take a while to grow??

I got my eye on some pigs, one is a teddy and I can't tell what another one will "grow into"...

My Lilly was in a pet shop and her "hubby" was one with the spikey swirly hair, (peruvian?) her babies that looked like dad had spikey swirly hair right from the get go.

Holly (peruvian) had two babies that resembled little aliens. They had 2 rosettes on their rumps and short (maybe 1/2 inch) hair everwhere else. The hair started really growing by the time they were maybe 2 1/2 months old. By the way, the babies dad was a peruvian too, so they are purebreds.
Holly was pregnant when I got her from a petshop  (I won't do that again) and the lady thought boy guinea pigs couldn't get girl piggies pregnant until they were 5 months old. I set her straight when I found that out recently.
The first picture is Dexter at 3 days old, the second is Dexter at 3 months, same with the 3rd. I hope this helps!

Their hair didn't start growing immediatly. It was very short until they got to be a few months old. They had 3 inch long hair at 5 months old before I cut it recently.

They come out short haired. I know of two absolutely gorgeous silkie boys who looked like regular short haired English (American) piggies until they were about 3-4 weeks old, then their hair started gettng a bit longer and now at 7 months they are simply stunning.

The hair starts growing longer quickly, but it only really starts growing well at 4-6 months old, and I noticed that my Tuppy's reached it peak length at 9 months old. I have a few pics of her when I got her, and her now.

Tuppy at 8 weeks (she's the little one; Charlie is the other pig)

Tuppy at (nearly) 2 years
