It's election time in my area, and I've been seeing a lot of huge political signs lately. I was thinking about using one of these for the bottom of the c&c cage I'll make someday, but a friend pointed out that there may be laws against tearing up the signs like that. Are there any such laws?

I'm really hoping there are not, because my neighbor has huge signs that I'm sure I could use, and they're all made out of coroplast.

I have some that my dad found at the dump after election day last year. I don't know if there are any laws but you could always contact the candidates and ask them if you could have the signs after the election.

Seems like you would be doing the candidates a favor (assuming you take them AFTER election) because that makes less signs for them to have to take down and dispose of. I think I'll keep my eye out for those too, it's a good idea. Also, as cheap as coro is, nothing is cheaper than free.

I'd clean them very, VERY, VERY well, because with cars driving by and such, there will probably be gunk from exhaust, tires, brakes, etc. on them (and inside on the corrugated part). Other than that, sounds like a great, inexpensive idea!!

No laws and they are actually required to have them down within so many days after elections. They just get disposed of by the city in whatever fashion they prefer. We went out collecting some once but it was too hard to get big enough signs. Most were too small to be worth piecing together. They can come in handy for small things like doing a hayloft without having to pay for a full sheet or to have a full sheet custom cut but for doing a whole cage it was nearly impossible to come up with enough coroplast. We even covered 3 different towns and only managed to grab 1 large one and a dozen smaller ones.

Maybe you could call up the party with the biggest signs, and ask if they'll put one on your front lawn? I've seen candidates going door to door asking if they can put signs on people's lawns, so I think they'd probably be happy to do this. Then I guess when the election is over, you can dispose of it however you like. :)

It's really popular in my area to have huge signs, so I'm not worried about finding them.

I haven't measured any, but the common big ones look like they're either 2 feet by 4 feet or maybe 3 feet by 5. If I got three of these and cleaned them off really well, they'd make a good bottom, right?

Another thing that I like it they're bright colors, and I've read that guineas can see color.

All you have to think is what they know can't hurt them. I mean how many law officials are going to look at the base of your guinea pig cage?

Shadow if you ahev rrom to store extra signs then get as many as you can. You are bound to eventually want to change/expand your cage amd that coro will come in handy.

You are bound to also have someone in your area that is interested in building a better cage for their GPs. It would be great if you had the free coro to offer them to encourage them to do it.
